???? Spooky Skyscrapers: Haunted Tall Buildings of Chicago ???? As Halloween approaches, the Chicago chapter of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is spotlighting some of our city's spookiest tall landmarks. While Chicago’s skyline is known for its architectural marvels, a few of these towering giants hold eerie tales of the supernatural. Here are a few you might want to avoid after dark... ????? ??? The John Hancock Center (875 N. Michigan Ave.) This iconic building is not just known for its breathtaking views—it’s also said to be haunted. Visitors have reported hearing mysterious footsteps in the observation deck and seeing strange shadows in the hallways. Could it be one of the many who met their fates during its long history? ??? The Congress Plaza Hotel (520 S Michigan Ave.) Though not a skyscraper in the traditional sense, the Congress Plaza Hotel, standing tall at 14 stories, is home to numerous ghostly sightings. From phantom bellhops to floating apparitions, this building's haunted legacy dates back to its construction in the late 1800s. The haunted room 441 is one to steer clear of if you dare stay the night. ???? ??? The Palmer House Hotel (17 E. Monroe St.) As one of Chicago’s most historic hotels, the Palmer House has its share of ghostly guests. Built in the late 1800s, it is said to be haunted by the spirit of Bertha Palmer, the hotel’s original matriarch. Staff and guests alike report feeling a ghostly presence, and some have even spotted a figure believed to be Bertha herself, gracefully gliding through the opulent lobby. This Halloween, while you admire the architectural wonders of Chicago’s skyline, remember that some of these giants might not stand alone at night! ????? Happy Halloween from the CTBUH Chicago chapter! ?? #TallBuildings #HauntedChicago #HalloweenSkyscrapers #CTBUH #ArchitectureAndGhosts
