The Connecticut Association for Infant Mental Health (CT-AIMH) is a professional statewide non-profit organization that offers education and expertise in infant and early childhood mental health. Connecticut Association for Infant Mental Health, Inc. began its leadership work in 2001 and received its 501c(3) non profit status in 2008. CT-AIMH offers professional development opportunities to those working with infants and young children and their families assisting them to support and enhance responsive relationships, to promote culturally sensitive practice, and to reflect on their work with families and their young children. CT-AIMH promotes and holds a set of Competency Guidelines? for the infant and early childhood family workforce, that when they are met, lead to an Endorsement in Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Focused Practice Promoting Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health?. Connecticut is one of over 33 states and multiple countries to offer this endorsement that was initiated by the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health and in 2006 received the Annapolis Coalition for the Behavioral Health Workforce award for innovation in workforce development.

-- New Resource for IECMH Endorsement Applicants! -- CT-AIMH is thrilled to share a brand new tool designed to support Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement applicants document how their Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) training has supported their professional growth. This resource was produced in a partnership between the Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health and the Child-Parent Psychotherapy Dissemination Team at the University of California, San Francisco’s Child Trauma Research Program. The Endorsement credential is a cornerstone in our strategy to strengthen the workforce in infant, young child, and family mental health. It emphasizes the value of specialized experiences, from coursework to in-service training and reflective supervision, to apply IECMH principles and practices effectively. The CT-AIMH Annual Stakeholder's Meeting, titled "It's Time to Celebrate Babies!", was a powerful gathering celebrating Celebrate Babies Week. The event brought together funders, board members, community partners, and CT-AIMH members to champion early childhood mental health. Executive Director Heidi Madeira opened with a moving reading of Sarah Gambito’s poem "Grace," emphasizing the theme of goodwill in support of the IECMH workforce. Dr. Carlita Elias, the Board Vice President, delivered a keynote on “Centering Equity As We Celebrate Babies,” urging attendees to prioritize equity in their work with infants and families. The event also featured a presentation of the 2024 State of Connecticut Celebrate Babies Week Proclamation Video and a Celebrate Babies Reflections Video, underscoring the commitment to supporting young children's mental health. The meeting concluded with presenting the official proclamation to CT-AIMH's Executive Director, making it a truly inspiring day for all involved.
