Here is a recap of the Internship Jamboree held last Friday in the Japanese Garden! The jamboree is an opportunity to celebrate the equity-anchored, paid internship programs on campus. Alongside our collective work, spanning academic and student affairs to increase student access to equitable participation in paid internships. A few alumni of Project Resilience participants of last years internships and some are now working at the organizations they interned at such as OCAPICA and KGA! #csulb #projectresilience #internships #OCAPICA #KGA #alumni

?? Success! ?? Yesterday, we had an incredible experience with our Political Community Tour of Little Saigon, hosted by Project Resilience in collaboration with VietRISE. It was a unique opportunity for our faculty and staff to explore the rich cultural and political heritage of Orange County’s Little Saigon. The tour provided an immersive experience to learn about the history and complexities of the Vietnamese American community. We gained deeper insights into the social justice and immigrant rights issues affecting this vibrant area. From discussions on the model minority myth to stories about deportation impacts, our group engaged in meaningful conversations that tied into larger narratives of justice and equity. A huge thank you to VietRISE for leading the way and sharing their knowledge. We appreciate the passion and dedication of everyone involved, making this event an enlightening and impactful experience. Looking forward to more events like this that continue to connect us to important cultural and political landscapes within our communities. ?? #ProjectResilience #LittleSaigon #VietRISE #SocialJustice #CommunityEngagement #CulturalHeritage #VietnameseAmerican #FacultyStaffTour #CSULB #Resilience #ImmigrantRights #Community

We also wanted to recap when our interns who worked with the Filipino Migrant Center (FMC) and Professor May Lin, PhD presented our internship program at the Asian/Asian American Studies (AAAS) conference in Seattle! The FMC interns from the previous fall semester are so grateful they got the opportunity to speak as undergraduates on a panel in front of professors and graduate students. They spoke about their time and accomplishments during the internship, as well as the mission and work of their organization. This experience pushed them out of their comfort zones, and they are grateful that they had the chance to go to a conference for the first time and learn from other passionate people about serving their communities! #CSULB #Internship #AAAS #Conference

Here are some pictures from our previous collaboration with California State University, Long Beach's Beach Kitchen! The Beach Kitchen is a resource on campus where students can learn to create nutritious meals for their well-being. Last semester, for our collaboration, peer mentees and other students from Project Resilience learned to make rainbow noodles and a tapioca dessert. Our mentees and mentors enjoyed learning about nutrition and ways they can improve their health through food! #CSULB #LongBeach #BeachKitchen #csulbasi #food #education #wellness

In April of this year, our team attended the APAHE (Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education) conference in Oakland, CA. Our peer mentors and staff presented about our mentorship program, one-on-one interactions with mentees, AAPI culture and networks, and resources on campus that mentors utilized. We were able to share our work and experiences with institutions interested in building similar programs and environments on their own campuses. #CSULB #AAPI #AANHPI #APAHE #APAHEConference #Mentorship #PeerMentors #LEAP
