  • Jevannah Vigil is a chemical and biological engineering student, and she is grateful for the "SELF DISCIPLINE" she has learned as an engineering student at CSU! Jevannah described how her experience has led her to establish healthy life skills in learning, including when to press into her studies and when to prioritize self-care. She has also learned how to manage her time wisely and has been pushed to work hard to grow! She credited an amazing staff and peers as advocates in helping her learn and grow these skills. We are thankful that our students are not only becoming incredible engineers but also are learning life skills that they can carry forward as they continue to pursue their dreams and impact the world!?

  • "Community" was the word that Trevor Olsen, third year mechanical engineering student, used to describe the best part of being an engineering student at CSU. He is grateful for the several opportunities to get involved with other students and the engineering community at CSU, as well as the many fun activities and events that we put on each semester for our students. Trevor reminisced how fun the events have been and how easy it was to find a way to get connected, even as a first-year student. We love celebrating and interacting with our students at fun events each semester! Next up is the Fall Finish E-Days and the Mech 202 Competition!?

  • Mia Chavez, third year biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering student, says that she is most grateful for the care she has received as an engineering student. Mia has been greatly impacted by the care shown by both her instructors and her fellow students. Her experience has led her to feel that everyone wants you to succeed and puts in extra effort to help you achieve your greatest potential. This is not just a job to them - it's a passion. Mia specifically gave a shoutout to James Tillotson, the director of the Engineering Manufacturing Education Center, as an instructor that showed immense care and helped her learn to love the mechanical engineering side of her degree.? We are so grateful for the kindness of the instructors and students in our engineering community!?

  • Meet Kian Khatami, mechanical engineering student and Chief Engineer for CSU's Formula SAE team. Kian is a third-year engineering student and also entering his third year of competition with the FSAE team. He has loved the hands-on experience that the team has offered since his first year at CSU. Originally from California, Kian came to Colorado to experience all four seasons. As a former high school athlete in football and track, he enjoys participating in several of the intramural sports offered on campus, including soccer, dodgeball, flag football, volleyball, and basketball. Kian also loves to lift and work out at the health center on campus.

  • We are lucky to have faculty that really know their stuff and that truly care about their students - a team of some of the most caring and invested teachers in the engineering world. This past summer our civil and environmental engineering professors hosted and participated in the second ExCEEd workshop on campus - a training program specifically for civil engineering teachers that focused on innovative and inclusive ways to teach basic and complex engineering concepts.?

  • Did you know that thanks to high powered lasers, fusion energy was recently accomplished? And CSU is one of the few places in the world that has the expertise and the technology to make laser-driven fusion energy feasible! Join Professor Ken Reardon on Wednesday, November 20 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Collins Welcome Center in Old Town Square (Building 7, Suite 100) to learn more about fusion, lasers, and "big numbers," and how CSU is helping shape the future of clean energy.?

  • Meet Chance Collins! Chance is a third year Mechanical Engineering major and transfer from Arizona State. He came to CSU for more hands-on learning, as well as for the outdoor opportunities offered in Colorado. Chance is the suspension team lead for CSU's Formula SAE team this year. He is one of the many second- and third-year engineers leading the team to the national competition in the spring. Formula SAE and an engineering degree take up the majority of Chance's time, but he does make time to engage in other activities. Every week, Chance participates in the line dancing club on campus. He also regularly takes his modified FJ Cruiser for mountain climbing and jumping, and enjoys climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking.?

  • Last month, we had the honor of dedicating a lab in our Scott Bioengineering Building to beloved former professor, Vincent "Vince" Murphy. In 2005, Vince received the Best Teacher Award from CSU, for his outstanding role in the lives of engineering students and in shaping the overall growth of the Chemical and Biological Engineering department at CSU. Vince was known for high-level of care and compassion for those around him, and his immense passion for teaching and helping others succeed.? His son, Christopher, was present to cut the ribbon for the unveiling of the new name of the lab.?
