Today, we show our appreciation and admiration for those who have served for our country. We are lucky to have many brave individuals in our community who helped to fight for the rights that we have today, and set up a strong foundation for us to continue that fight. Thank you, to all veterans for your sacrifices. #cspnj #njpeers #njhealth #njhousing #njhiring #njnonprofit #mentalhealth #recovery #peersupport #wellness #housing #peersupport #peerrecovery #accessiblehealthcare #njhealth #veteransday #veteranappreciation #usveterans #usarmedforces

According to NAMI, "Everyone is impacted by mental health conditions – including the friends, family, and coworkers who don’t live with a mental health condition themselves. One in five adults in the U.S. experiences a mental health condition each year, which impacts those who know and love them." The theme for this year's World Mental Health Day and Mental Illness Awareness Week is My Mental Health at Work: take a look at their toolkit in the post below to help promote mental wellness at work! Here at CSPNJ, our peer-led approach to mental health services aims to break the stigma and welcome more conversations about mental health and wellness. We focus on the strengths of our community members to support them in navigating their mental health recovery journey. Interestingly enough, today is not only #WorldMentalHealthDay but also #WorldHomelessDay. Given that many individuals experiencing homelessness also often live with co-occurring mental health problems, substance use, and traumatic stress disorder, CSPNJ works to prevent and end homelessness through a range of support services including mental health and substance use referrals, supportive housing, and assistance with applications for permanent affordable housing. ?? As we kick off #WorldMentalHealthDay, take a moment to self-assess and ensure you’re getting the rest you need for success. Recharging today means a fuller battery tomorrow! Explore available resources to support your well-being at nami.org/MIAW.

We had the privilege of hosting a private screening of #AccessingDemocracy at our Fall Fest event this year! Learn about #accessiblevoting and #disabilityvotingrights in this empowering film. Register here to watch: https://lnkd.in/e8A-DmXz
My directorial debut, Accessing Democracy, is going to have its virtual world premiere on October 10th?at 3pm ET. This short film follows my friend and colleague Monica Wiley, DEI Certified as she interviews fellow voters with disabilities ahead of the 2024 election. It focuses on the barriers our community experiences and how the next commander-in-chief could do more to support Americans with disabilities. After the screening of the film we're going to have a Q&A panel with myself, Monica, and the voters who are featured in the film.?We will have I hope you'll consider attending. https://lnkd.in/enaYtsBi

We’re excited to partner with NJ TRANSIT to launch the Chance for Change program! Together with Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ) and Volunteers of America Delaware Valley (VOADV), this initiative provides a secure way for NJ TRANSIT customers to make a real difference for those using transportation services facing challenges such as hunger, homelessness, mental health issues, and substance use disorders. One powerful example is Lasheema Edwards, who, despite pursuing her? Ph.D. in Psychology at Grand Canyon University, found herself homeless in? Penn Station due to untreated mental illness. Fortunately,?NJ TRANSIT never gave up on her. Over several attempts, they made continuous efforts to reach out to Lasheema, visiting her at Penn Station and offering assistance. Their perseverance paid off when they?connected her with CSPNJ, providing the resources she needed to get back on her feet.?Today, Lasheema is not only housed but also thriving as an employee at CSPNJ, using her experiences to help others facing similar challenges. Her journey is a testament to the?impact that outreach and the right support?can have on transforming lives. To support programs that assist the homeless, NJ TRANSIT has introduced QR codes at its facilities, providing an easy way for commuters to donate. This initiative aims to redirect donations from panhandlers to established social service organizations that specialize in outreach, healthcare, and housing. As NJ Transit Police Department Chief Christopher Trujillo mentioned, direct donations to individuals may inadvertently support harmful behaviors. Chance for Change ensures that contributions go to trusted partners making a tangible impact. Keep an eye out for Chance for Change signage at your local transit stations for QR codes on how to help! Ready to make an impact now? Visit https://lnkd.in/eE_UVBgu to contribute today!
