Congratulations to DNA Learning Center of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Assistant Director Jason Williams for winning the Elizabeth W. Jones Award for Excellence in Education from the Genetics Society of America! The award recognizes individuals for their significant and lasting contributions to genetics education. “This award reflects the work of many people, and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to build upon the educational foundation that is a vital part of CSHL’s history,” Williams says.?

The time has finally arrived! We are searching for a motivated individual who is passionate about STEM education and genetics/genomics to serve as the Lead Instructor for our new DNA Learning Center at Meharry Medical College. This individual would ideally have a strong background in basic sciences as well as some teaching experience. Our center (the first of it's kind at an HBCU) is being established as part of the Together for CHANGE / The Diaspora Human Genomics Institute Initiative and in partnership with the amazing folks at the DNA Learning Center of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Through this center we will increase exposure and access to hands-on genetics research for pre-college students within Middle Tennessee and beyond! Last month we hosted several engaging, hands-on events! Highlights included Saturday DNA! sessions where participants explored "Enzymes in Action" at Regeneron DNALC, focused on candy population genetics with "Sweet Genes" at DNALC NYC, and got up close with tardigrades in "Water Bear, Water Bear, Wherefore Art Thou Water Bear" at Dolan DNALC. We also hosted STEM Teachers NYC for their workshop series on the new Life Science Regents labs. We wrapped up the year with a UBRP Lab Skills Workshop and a festive Staff Holiday Party!
