Andrew Garza and Alexa Mahony—of CSG’s 7-, 8-, and 9-figure verdict trial team—will moderate this workshop led by Jonathan Kocienda, highlighting the hidden opportunities, dangers, and mistakes plaintiff’s lawyers make in litigating medical malpractice cases. Topics include: · Uncovering the hidden data that hospitals don’t want you to know about; · Getting trapped by medicine “tunnel vision” instead of trying your case; · Keeping experts and their egos on a leash to effectively persuade jurors; · Understanding the truth beyond the records and weaponizing them for cross-examination; and · Leveraging the fear of professional embarrassment to coopt defense experts. Jak (“Jake”) Kocienda brings over 22 years of medical malpractice experience, including 18 years on the defense side handling hundreds of cases in litigation and through trial. In his time on the “dark side,” Jak was requested by name to defend Connecticut’s major hospital networks and medical groups. In 2023, he returned to his plaintiff roots to head the Medical Malpractice Division at Claggett, Sykes & Garza, LLC, Claggett & Sykes Law Firm’s new East Coast firm. Be sure to grab a ticket before they sell out! https://lnkd.in/eQfQctBX

One of CSG's core values is sharing our knowledge and experience with other trial lawyers. This fall Attorney Garza and Attorney Mahony are traveling to three states in four weeks to speak to lawyers across the country. Lecture topics include using depositions to confront lies and undermine baseless defenses in your case, and introductory lectures about big data, working with vendor partners to develop neutral case narratives, and the role big data plays in shaping discovery and trial strategy. We're also running several workshops on the implementation of live and remote focus group analyses and big data studies at trial; training lawyers to pick their best juries; and helping lawyers avoid common pitfalls and mistakes in litigating medical malpractice cases. We've love to see you at Trial Lawyers University in Law Vegas, at The National Trial Lawyers's Law Di Gras Conference in San Diego, or at the Ohio Association for Justice's Winter Convention in Cleveland!

Join attorneys Jonathan Kocienda, Andrew Garza, and Alexa Mahony at Trial Lawyers University in Las Vegas for an advanced medical malpractice workshop on October 18th! Jak ("Jake") brings over 22 years of medical malpractice experience, including 18 years on the defense side handling hundreds of cases in litigation and through trial. In this workshop, facilitated by Andrew Garza and Alexa Mahony, Jak will highlight the most common pitfalls and mistakes plaintiff’s lawyers make in litigating medical malpractice cases, including: ? Not trying the cases that should be tried and settling cases short; ? Litigating the medicine instead of developing persuasive trial themes; ? Losing control of experts and letting them drive your case; ? Failing to uncover the hidden discovery in your case; ? Failing to understand “how the gears turn” in the real-world delivery of medical treatment; and ? Underutilizing opportunities to use defense experts to support your case. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring a case or two of their own for discussion and will receive guidance on how to use live focus groups and Big Data studies to vet themes and address the key issues in their cases. There are only 10 spots left, so be sure to grab a ticket before they sell out! https://lnkd.in/eQfQctBX

Team Claggett, Sykes & Garza had an amazing time yesterday at the 2nd Annual Plane Pull at Tweed Airport to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut! Our team was one of 16 teams that raised $2,000 or more for the SOCT! Our fall motto is "Burn the Ships." Why? Because we're building a law firm that's new, different, and exciting. A firm that requires the passion and the courage to leave the past behind us, forge onward, and jump into a brighter future with both feet! ?????? ?? Despite having only 16 members, our mighty team pulled a 90,000 lb Boeing 737 over 20 feet! Teamwork is at the core of everything we do. Whether it's pulling a plane, or fighting for justice for our clients, there's no team like Team CSG! ??♂? ??♀?

We’re pleased to announce that both Attorney Andrew Garza and our firm, Claggett, Sykes & Garza, LLC, have been recognized in the latest edition of The Best Lawyers in America? for Personal Injury Litigation - Plaintiffs. Lots of awards don’t matter, but this one does. Why? Because the award can’t be bought, selection is based solely on peer reviews, and eligibility is centered around a significant question: “If you are unable to take a case, how likely would you be to refer your client to this lawyer or firm?” It’s the support of our colleagues and fellow trial lawyers that means the world to us and makes us excited to continue the amazing work we all get to do. Cheers to 2025!
