Since the Community Giving Foundation's start 25 years ago, we have worked with generous donors and fundholders to distribute over $50 million in grants back into our region for lasting impact. The Foundation currently manages over 365 charitable funds, each created with a unique purpose in mind. Despite spending most of their lives in Western New York, Patricia and Richard Garman never forgot the community they came from. The former Snyder County couple made the thoughtful decision to leave an estate gift to invest in local youth needs. Their experiences, successful careers, and giving nature are remembered in perpetuity through this legacy in our region. "The grant we received from the Garman Fund has allowed us to reduce the stigma around mental health through sessions on suicide prevention, trauma-informed yoga, problem-solving skill building, and more. We are so grateful for this funding to provide mental health awareness and services to our youngest and most vulnerable at the REC." After the sale of the Berwick Hospital in 1999, the Berwick Hospital Auxiliary reorganized into a community group of life-long Berwick residents committed to philanthropy and investment in the local community they all cared so much about. Through a partnership with the Community Giving Foundation, Volunteers in Philanthropy has participated in a number of activities for community growth and annual grantmaking. To this day, the group serves as a voice for volunteerism and charitable giving, granting over $120,000 for direct impact and service to Berwick residents.
