"The Gerald R. Ford CSG Group Sail represents hard work from our civilian and uniformed staff to deliver high-quality, integrated warfighting training early in the work up cycle,” said Rear Adm. Max McCoy, commander, Carrier Strike Group 4. “Training events and exercises led by our headquarters along with Tactical Training Group Atlantic (TTGL), Training Support Vessel Squadron (TSVRON) 4, and CSG-4 Navy Reserve units accelerate tactical proficiency and provide competitive advantage to strike group commanders, warfare commanders, and their teams sailing into harm’s way.”

Happy Birthday, Marines! Today we recognized the Marine Corps’ 249th birthday during a celebration led by our own Lt. Col. James Lindler. We are proud of the work we do with our Marine Corps teammates at II Marine Expeditionary Force’s Expeditionary Operations Training Group to lead pre-deployment integrated training for Amphibious Ready Group and Marine Expeditionary Units preparing for deployment. We are also grateful for the continuous effort of our team at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group-Atlantic to provide world-class training to ensure the Joint Force and Allies are prepared to deliver decisive military power from the sea. Semper Fidelis!

NATO's Neptune Strike 24-2 is underway. The vigilance activity demonstrates the complex integration of joint high-end maritime strike capabilities. Multiple aircraft carriers and expeditionary strike groups including the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group / 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, HMS Prince of Wales and her escorts, TCG Anadolu and her Marine battalion, and ITS Cavour and her escorts are operating in the activity under NATO authority in support of #deterrence and #defense of the Alliance. Since 2020, many CSG-4 training events - including all COMPTUEXs in the period - include dedicated training to increase interoperability within the NATO Alliance. #strongertogether h/t: NATO Maritime Command, STRIKFORNATO | Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO

Check out this video - part of a series released by the Hampton Roads Naval Museum - about the Battle of Sibuyan Sea which occurred 80 years ago today. This video highlights the battle - part of the larger Battle of Leyte Gulf - and Carrier Division FOUR's critical role. The Battle of Sibuyan Sea led to significant IJN losses including the 'unsinkable' Yamato-class battleship Musashi. Today the US Navy and Joint Force will remember and honor the Battle of Leyte Gulf, a pivotal battle in the Pacific Theater in World War II from Oct. 23-26, 1944. While Carrier Strike Group FOUR operates today as an operational-level command in exercise to train and prepare Atlantic Fleet deployers to operate effectively in today's security environment, our command was established in World War II in the Pacific as Carrier Division FOUR. In the Battle of Leyte Gulf Commander, Carrier Division FOUR Rear Adm. Gerald 'Jerry' Bogan, served as Task Group (TG) 38.2 under Vice Adm. Marc Mitscher's First Fast Carrier Force Pacific under Adm. Halsey's Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet. USS Intrepid was Rear Adm. Bogan's flagship and one of four carriers - including USS Bunker Hill, USS Cabot, and USS Independence - in TG 38.2 during the period. These incredible photos of Task Group 38.2 in action were captured by a photographer flying in a Curtiss?SB2C?Helldiver part of Air Group 18 embarked aboard USS Intrepid (CV 11) during the Battle of Sibuyan Sea during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. TG 38.2 was one of four TGs assigned to the Fast Carrier Force. TG 38.1 was led by Vice Adm. J. S. McCain (COM2NDFASCARFORPAC), TG 38.3 was led by Rear Adm. F. C. Sherman (COMCARDIV 1), and TG 38.4 was led by Rear Adm. R. E. Davison (COMCARDIV 2). Photo information: Rear Adm.
