We are proud to support the next phase of Columbus Promise, with a grant from the Cardinal Health Foundation, to provide educational opportunities for Columbus City Schools students. These programs promote the development of new skills, experiences and perspectives and provide hope for a promising future where all can thrive.

Last summer, we promised to continue the Columbus Promise—the city’s tuition-free college program. Today, that promise is one step closer! Thanks to the power of public and private partnerships, the Columbus Promise of free college for CCS students will now extend through the 2027 graduating class! Thank you to our incredible partners (City of Columbus, Installed Building Products, Edwards Companies, Cardinal Health Foundation, IGS Energy, I Know I Can, and Columbus City Council for helping our students Dream Big to Achieve More with access to a free education at Columbus State Community College!

The Columbus Promise of free college for Columbus City Schools - Ohio students will now extend through its 2027 graduating class. Thanks to ongoing funding from the City of Columbus and multiple lead donors — Installed Building Products and Edwards Companies, the Cardinal Health Foundation, and IGS Energy — these grads are guaranteed access to a free education at Columbus State Community College. The Columbus Promise has nearly doubled college-going rates among Columbus City Schools grads since its launch in 2022. The program’s funding continuation is expected to bring more than 2,000 additional Promise Scholars to Columbus State! The Columbus State Foundation proudly celebrates Dr. Keith B. Key for 20 outstanding years of service to our Board of Directors! Since 2004, Dr. Key has given of his time generously and encouraged Columbus State to think bigger and bolder. Dr. Key served as Board Chair for two years and is a major donor to the Foundation, including investment in the college’s Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts building, Mitchell Hall. The Keith & Donica Key Outdoor Amphitheater is named for him and his wife. Dr. Key also served as the speaker at Columbus State’s 195th Commencement in December 2017, seeking to inspire tomorrow’s leaders to stay connected and give back to their communities. Thank you, Dr. Keith B. Key for two decades of leadership in advancing educational opportunity at Columbus State Community College and beyond.

Columbus State proudly unveils the first look at a new 80,000-square-foot academic building for health care education. The OhioHealth Center for Health Sciences is a leading element in the college’s Columbus State Community College Foundation & Alumni Network-backed initiative to expand the talent pipeline for the region’s health care providers. This state-of-the-art building will allow the college to double graduates in in-demand fields while modernizing instructional space for the next generation of nurses and other health care professionals. The project is expected to break ground in fall 2025 and open by the start of the 2027–2028 academic year. Columbus State announced the project in June 2023 as part of a $120 million partnership with OhioHealth to double graduates in in-demand health care fields including nursing, respiratory care, and surgical technology.
