Over the course of two powerful days, county leaders from across the state came together in?#ButteCounty?to focus on strengthening? #DisasterRecovery?and?#DisasterPreparedness?for California Counties. Day one featured a?#CampFireRecovery?Tour led by Butte County Deputy CAO Katie Simmons. From Paradise to Magalia, we witnessed the resilience and recovery taking shape through infrastructure repair, affordable housing efforts, watershed management, and more. Huge thanks to the?Butte County Fire Safe Council for highlighting local partnerships in fuels reduction and evacuation planning. Day two continued the conversation with thoughtful presentations from county supervisors and state leaders on the evolving role of local government in disaster response. We’re grateful to California Health & Human Services Agency Secretary Kim J. for kicking off the morning with a powerful discussion on the critical role of health and human services in long-term recovery. We also extend thanks to Butte County Supervisor Doug Teeter, Lake County Supervisor Jessica Pyska, and Del Norte County Supervisor Chris Howard for sharing their firsthand?#disasterrecovery?experiences—and to Butte County CAO Andy Pickett for moderating an insightful and engaging panel. Created in 1986, the CSAC Finance Corporation has spent over 30 years helping local governments meet their financial needs by providing debt, investment, retirement and discount purchasing programs as well as other services. Many of the ideas for new products and services have come from both public sector and business partners. The variety of products offered has grown dramatically since the first pooled bond issue for capital construction projects in 1986 and now includes a variety of finance, purchasing, human resource, and other cost saving programs to assist California counties.

We are thrilled to celebrate Amador County Supervisor Richard Forster for his outstanding contributions to the state of California. Supervisor Forster was honored with an award from Los Angeles County, presented by LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, during the 130th California State Association of Counties? (CSAC) Annual Conference. The award recognizes his "dedicated service to the affairs of the community and for the civic pride demonstrated by numerous contributions for the benefit of the state of California." Richard’s commitment to public service is remarkable. As a longtime member of the CSAC Finance Corporation Board and a past President of both CSAC and the Rural County Representatives of California, his leadership has been instrumental in advancing policies and programs that benefit counties statewide. In his role as District 2 Supervisor for Amador County, Richard has dedicated his efforts to advocating for sustainable land use, strong economic growth, and a high quality of life for his community.
