This custom, curved skylight measures at the Alan G & Roberta Harlow Wetzel Skylight at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas measures 86 feet in length, starting at 2 feet wide and expanding to an impressive 18 feet at its widest point. The metal-framed skylight gracefully curves around the exterior of the performance hall, allowing natural light to illuminate the beautifully stained wood wall and the grand first-floor lobby. Our team's dedication and expertise ensured that the skylight seamlessly integrated with the building's architecture, enhancing the overall ambiance and visual appeal. The result is a captivating focal point that showcases Crystal Structures' commitment to innovative design and expert craftsmanship. The Art of Barrel-Shaped Skylights: Illuminating Design and Craftsmanship As architects and designers, we constantly seek innovative ways to incorporate natural light into buildings while creating visually stunning spaces. One remarkable skylight design that achieves this goal is the low-profile barrel vault skylight, which offers a unique blend of form and function. A magnificent example of this design can be found at Delaware County Community College's Brandywine Campus, where a red-framed barrel skylight spans an impressive 100 feet across the rooftop. The result is a breathtaking architectural feature that enhances the overall aesthetic of the building while flooding the interior space with natural light. Creating a barrel-shaped skylight requires precision and expertise, from meticulously bending the glass to the specific curve shape to carefully assembling the curved glass on-site to form the signature half-moon shape. This sunny solarium serves as the cafeteria and employee break area, providing staff with a pleasant and inviting space to relax, enjoy lunch, and hold meetings. Our team of experts incorporated innovative design elements, such as built-in accessory tracks for easy lighting installation and Comfort Glide shades to regulate room temperature and natural daylight. The structure spans an impressive 45 feet across, with 14 glass bays, and projects nearly 30 feet from the main building, seamlessly connecting to the outside park area. The custom-designed canopies at the Hoke County Health Pavilion welcome visitors, providing shelter and adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the building. In addition to the canopies, we manufactured a long skylight above the main pavilion entrance, allowing natural light to flood the interior space. Natural light has numerous health benefits, making it an important feature in healthcare settings. Our expertly crafted 20-foot ridgelite illuminates the space, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and staff. The NRC, established in 1975, is responsible for overseeing various aspects of nuclear energy, including safety, licensing, and waste management. The White Flint complex houses nearly 4,000 NRC employees across three buildings. We designed and installed a state-of-the-art greenhouse for native plant cultivation at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center in Erie, PA. This specialized growing space features automated controls and durable glazing to nurture indigenous species on display at the center. As an integral educational facility highlighting the natural landscapes of Presque Isle State Park, our customized greenhouse enables visitors to understand the native flora and habitats.
