Without strategic bootstrapping initiatives, new platforms often struggle to overcome this initial inertia and fail to build the necessary momentum for a functioning market. Several major platforms have implemented distinctive bootstrapping strategies to tackle this challenge. The Arbitrum Foundation's Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) takes a broad ecosystem approach, planning to distribute 50 million ARB tokens across 29 qualified projects that have operated on their network for at least six months. This initiative has supported major players like Dopex, Premia Finance, and Rysk Finance. Derive (formerly Lyra Foundation), meanwhile, has developed a multi-faceted approach, combining grants from Optimism Foundation and Arbitrum with their innovative Trading Rewards V2 program. Their strategy includes token airdrops, staking rewards, and a tiered fee rebate system that rewards user participation while ensuring accessibility for smaller holders. Premia Finance has taken a more sustainability-focused route with their commission-sharing feature, where stakers participate directly in the protocol's revenue. Their model combines commission sharing with staking rewards, tying incentives directly to platform profitability rather than relying solely on token distributions, thereby promoting more organic and sustainable growth.
