Vision Building a caring community passionate about connecting the global military community to Jesus Christ. Mission Our mission in Cru is to fulfill the Great Commission. In the process of raising support to be a missionary with Cru Military?, each new team member must meet and talk with many new contacts. For Shane Little, those contacts led to a completely new location opening for the ministry. When Shane first signed up to join Cru Military, he was given his future assignment—starting a new ministry at Fort Liberty (formerly called Fort Bragg). And that is no small assignment—Fort Liberty has over 52,000 military personnel, making it one of the largest military installations in the world. “When they told me that I was going to be responsible for opening up a new ministry at Fort Liberty, I thought, ‘Wow, that’s a big ask,’ because one, I have no military background,” Shane said, “and two, I have no military connections down there. It’s also not easy to even get on base.” But Shane decided not to worry about the details of his assignment, trusting that God would help with that at the appropriate time. He decided to focus on raising his support first. Shane and his wife Beckie went to a Christmas party and met a man who was interested in Shane’s future work at Fort Liberty. “I told the man that the biggest thing I needed was to gain the favor of a chaplain at Fort Liberty, because without a chaplain, I’m dead in the water,” Shane said. “He said to me, ‘How would you like to meet two of them?’ Two of the Fort Liberty chaplains go to his church!” Our meeting was on Wednesday. The next day, Thursday, I’m sitting at my desk, and the phone rings—it’s the chaplain! He asked me to come to Fort Liberty the next day to meet with him and four other chaplains to share how we could help them!” Shane was so shocked at how what seemed like locked doors were quickly flying open. “After I left that meeting, I was just kind of cruising back to the house, just totally on cloud nine,” Shane said. “I was just looking at what the Lord had done. I had no clue how I was going to get on the base at Fort Liberty to start ministry work." One of the greatest needs for ministry at a new site is more “laborers for the harvest.” Shane will be looking to recruit new team members and volunteers to work with the chaplains and bring the programs to life. “We don’t have anyone in the position that I can move forward with ministry immediately,” Shane said. “I have to pray and ask God for the team members, volunteers, and local churches that we need to get started. I just have to trust that God will move, and that I will still have an open door in two months or whatever it may be to find a team. I hope it’s shorter rather than longer. We have to pray.” If you are interested in exploring opportunities to support God's work in the military community through a support-raised or volunteer role with Cru Military go here: www.crumilitary.org/serve Schedule a meeting with Tara to learn more here: https://lnkd.in/esjC4jzA

Reaching Fort Sill — Coming to Christ I don’t ever want to say that salvations are a common thing,” Barry Bond, the local director at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, said, “but we are seeing a lot of salvations these days.” The Cru Military? team at Fort Sill serves in an environment where young recruits are far from home, with no cell phones to communicate with family and friends, and are in intense training to be soldiers. Hundreds are hearing the gospel for the first time and many are making decisions. Recently, one young man asked Barry for help in his decision. One Thursday after the Bible study, a young soldier came up to Barry holding an index card he had been given during the Bible study. “He handed me his card, and it said, ‘How do I believe in God?’ I was not sure what he meant, so I had to ask him what he meant by that question.” The young soldier replied, “Well, I believe there is a God, but how do I become a believer in God?” “I said to him, ‘Your desire to know God is eclipsed by God’s eternal desire for you to know him. He knows everything about you but also wants you to know Him.'” Barry explained a bit more and asked the soldier if he truly wanted to know the Lord personally. “He said yes, but I asked again. I said, ‘So you are saying you want to give your life away to Jesus Christ?’ He said ‘Yes,’ came to faith in Christ, and repented of his sins.” After the prayer, the soldier asked, “What is that?” Barry wasn’t sure what he meant, so he asked him. The soldier said, “I feel something is different on the inside of me.” Barry told the soldier, “Before you gave your life to Christ, Scripture tells us that you are spiritually dead. Now, as Jesus said in John 3, you have been born again. The Holy Spirit of God is now living and working inside of you. God is going to begin to transform not only your mind but also your heart and the rest of your life.” “We see lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of salvations,” he said. “And I never, ever, ever want to take it for granted. On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied forces landed in Nazi-occupied France as part of the largest air, land, and sea invasion in history. More than 9,000 Allied soldiers were killed or wounded in those first 24 hours, but D-Day is considered a major turning point in the war and the successful beginning of the end of Hitler's tyrannical regime.* Today, we remember and honor those who courageously fought and died on D-Day and the days that followed.
