As infectious disease experts put the risk of a major pandemic on the scale of COVID-19 at 2% to 3% in any given year, with a 1 in 2 chance of a new outbreak in the next 25 years, they also warn that conditions such as distrust, vaccine fatigue, and lack of funding could make outbreaks and pandemics not only more likely to occur but more difficult to fight as well. ?
