Out of respect and consideration for our community and island restaurants year’s Taste of the Islands event is rescheduled to March 1, 2025. Restaurant Week will be held February 21-28. The signature event’s festival format, location, time, and restaurant week will remain the same. Please join us this March for a fun-filled and delicious event!

Early last week, right after Hurricane Milton?? we received a call from our friends at CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. . Due to storm damage and a closed bridge preventing access to their facility, they were working off-site, collecting animals dropped off by the community. They needed help with these animals, and our amazing Rehabilitation Manager, Yaritza, quickly responded by driving our ambulance to their off-site location to transport multiple patients to us, including this Gull-billed Tern, a species we’ve never had before at PHSS! ??? The wildlife rehabilitation and conservation community is incredibly supportive, and we take pride in being there for our fellow rehabbers just as they are for us. Together, we ensure that every animal gets the care it deserves. ?? We wish our friends at CROW and any other centers affected by Hurricane Milton a swift recovery so they can resume their regular operations soon!??

Hurricane Milton prep day on CROW’s campus. Staff has been busy securing loose items outside, placing sandbags, and preparing patient supply kits for evacuation. CROW is evacuating staff, students, patients, and animal ambassadors today and tomorrow in preparation for the storm. Our wildlife hospital will closed beginning today, October 7 at 5 p.m. Please bring any sick injured or orphaned wildlife to BluePearl Pet Hospital. If you have any questions regarding injured wildlife please call 239-203-8013. The Visitor Education Center remains closed until further notice. Our thoughts are with all affected by the storm, please prepare and stay safe.??

CROW is thrilled to announce that SW Florida’s longest running taste event, Taste of the Islands is back IN-PERSON this year! The 43rd annual event, presented by Bank of the Islands/Edison National Bank will be held at Sanibel City Hall on Saturday, November 9 from 11am to 4pm. When one of our favorite grocery stores on the island was having to close for a week due to an electrical upgrade, they knew just who to call - CROW! We were able to take all of their produce that would go bad while their store was closed, and we are putting it to great use! Thanks Jerry's Enterprises (Jerry’s of Sanibel) for always providing produce for the animals in our care. We love our community partners!

Even the tiniest patients need CT scans sometimes and thanks to our friends at BluePearl Pet Hospital Fort Myers, one of our gopher tortoise patients was able to receive the care they needed. We appreciate all of our partners who make sure we can treat patients big and small! Thank you, Blue Pearl!
