Crossnore staff and foster parents in western NC have been greatly impacted by Hurricane Helene. Once safe, one of our foster parents in our Hendersonville region hit the ground running - volunteering with her church, taking supplies to an aircraft from Maryland and distributing. She has donated so many much needed supplies to Crossnore foster parents and to our staff in need. Here are on the mountain, everything things seem broken. Everywhere you look there is destruction. But even in the sorrow, we are so thankful for the community of Crossnore, that we are here together and not suffering alone. You can't look 20 feet without seeing a helper, someone who is putting their own suffering aside to help a neighbor. We are thankful to still be able to gather for chapel and to remember that God is near to the brokenhearted. We are grateful for safety, sunshine, and this beautiful community we share.

For folks asking how to help, no material supplies or volunteers are needed at this time. A supply truck arrived two days ago loaded with food and water! We ask that you please not attempt to come to our Avery campus. Roads are hard to navigate, and we need them as clear as possible for road and line crews and emergency personnel. Due to ongoing recovery efforts and continued power outages surrounding our Avery location, our career fair has been cancelled. We will communicate our rescheduled date when available.

Staff from our Hendersonville team had a fantastic time at the Blue Ridge Pride Festival in Asheville, NC last weekend. Staff had the opportunity to share about Crossnore, the services we provide, and the increasing need for foster families. Crossnore takes pride in licensing all families to offer a safe and stable home for all children.

We want to wish a big welcome to the following new employees who began last week. Amber is a new Residential Case Manager on our Avery campus. Adrienne joins us as Senior Director of Program Innovation. And Evelin and Jacquilyn are new Cottage Parents on our Winston-Salem campus. We are so happy to have you all!
