Dr. Beverly Gray, an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Duke University says, “Women’s pain and women’s experiences have been downplayed throughout medicine.”? This is why we at CrossBay developed CrossGlide. Women shouldn't be forced to feel what some describe as a "hot knife slowly stabbing them." Freedom from pain is possible. Its time we update clinical protocols and technology. https://lnkd.in/g6u48T34 The New York Times Teddy Rosenbluth CrossBay Medical Inc.

Great article on what CrossGlide is and the applications it has and can be used for in the future. The improvement here is that by design the catheter is flexible and frictionless and therefore, no rigid tube is used to push across the cervix. Therefore, it shouldn't cause trauma. We don't need the use of a tenaculum (forceps as you call it) to apply counter-traction to the cervix. This is proven in our other products for endometrial biopsy, embryo transfer, and cervical dilation.

Its #WomensHealthWednesday again! Bayer, a leader in the intrauterine #contraception space, announced an exciting collaboration last week with CrossBay Medical Inc. that will aim to improve the intrauterine system (IUS) placement experience for patients (https://lnkd.in/eQhnZhxF). The agreement allows for the development of a single-handed inserter to be combined with Bayer’s IUS products using CrossBay’s CrossGlide uterine access platform, with eventual option to license. CrossGlide uses a flexible catheter that follows the natural curves of the cervical canal, replacing the need for forceps during the IUS placement procedure. CrossGlide has numerous #gynecological applications, previously having been cleared for use in endometrial biopsy procedures, licensed to Vitrolife for use in an embryo transfer catheter, and licensed to Hologic, Inc. for use in a cervical dilator product. Through this collaboration, the companies hope to improve the IUS placement experience by reducing the discomfort and #pain many women feel during the procedure. It remains to be seen how this innovation could impact overall IUS procedure costs – while a more advanced insertion device could raise the cost of an IUS, the potential benefits may include elimination of costs tied to purchase/reprocessing of the instruments that the novel inserter will replace and reduced total procedure time.? This collaboration validates the pain that many women experience during IUS/IUD placement, a topic which has long been pushed aside. Bayer must see this as an area of particularly high unmet need, given that the company had previously announced plans to deprioritize R&D investment in women’s health earlier in 2023. When selecting a form of contraception, fear of pain during the IUS/IUD procedure drives many women to choose other options. It will be interesting to see if by improving the patient experience, the total IUS/IUD market size will eventually expand. I am happy to announce this win for women’s health!! It’s been a personal goal of mine to help change the standard of care for procedures performed in the office for typical gynecological procedures. This partnership will go a long way towards achieving that goal. I look forward to working with Bayer.

Cheers to Bayer for seeing the value in improving how women experience IUD placement! Adding CrossGlide to the inserter will reduce discomfort, which is often the sole reason to avoid this procedure for many women. The mission of CrossBay has always been to improve how women experience the most common procedures. CrossGlide is a platform technology that can change the way uterine biopsies, hysteroscopy, IVF treatment, or any procedure requiring access to the uterus through the cervical canal. Congratulations to the entire CrossBay team! This relationship with Bayer is a great bellwether to integrate CrossGlide further and bring it forward into all uterine health procedures.#bayerpharmaceuticals #crossbaymedical https://lnkd.in/g_iRGNq7
