For the Love of Gleaning Event - Friday, Feb. 14 On Valentine’s Day, our Gleaning crew were joined by three volunteers from the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization and 13 students from Lake Worth Christian School Defenders. In just under an hour, they filled two bins, totaling 1,260 lbs. of green peppers, while also learning about Down Syndrome and making new friends! Katie, known as “The Boss” (as she likes to refer to herself), doesn’t want to be treated any differently than anyone else. We learned that she loves to dance, cook, and assist seniors with their household chores. She’s very funny and loves to play tricks on people. A big thank you to Janel Kaufman from Lake Worth Christian School for coordinating this amazing event and going the extra mile to make it happen on the students' day off.
