At CROFTON, we take pride in supporting critical training exercises that enhance emergency preparedness and safety on the water. Recently, we had the opportunity to assist with the Annual SAR Forum, a large-scale search and rescue exercise designed to prepare first responders for real-world aviation emergencies. Our team played a key role in lifting and transporting an aircraft fire training prop, owned by the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, which was used to simulate a mass casualty scenario—something akin to the Miracle on the Hudson. In this exercise, a small passenger plane was staged as crash-landing onto a fuel barge (a CROFTON barge), with survivors requiring triage and transport. Responders worked to extinguish a simulated fire and contain a potential fuel spill, ensuring a highly realistic training environment. We’re honored to have collaborated with The Port of Virginia and the dedicated first responders who made this exercise a success. By working together, we help ensure our maritime communities are prepared for anything. #MaritimeSafety #EmergencyResponse

? Continuing our celebration for Women in Construction Week, we’re honoring Camille Crofton Gobrecht, daughter of Juan and Bunny Crofton. Camille joined Crofton Diving in 1981 and worked alongside her dad and brothers for over 40 years, retiring in 2023. A true embodiment of warmth, generosity, and tradition. While we miss having her around the office, her legacy of kindness and dedication continues to inspire us all. #WomenInConstruction

? It's Women in Construction Week! ? To kick things off, we're highlighting Bernice Crofton, known to all as Bunny, who was there from the very beginning. Bunny was the voice on the other end of the radio ?? at our home office on Huntsman Road in Norfolk, and her support was integral to our success. #ThrowbackThursday to the day two legends—both man and ship—shared the same frame. As the SS United States embarks on her final voyage, we’re looking back at our own connection to this historic vessel. ?? In 1952, our founder, Juan Crofton, stands suited in Mark V dive gear with the SS United States in the background at Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII—the very place where the ship was built. A marvel of American engineering, she shattered the transatlantic speed record for ocean liners that same year—a record that still stands today. Now, after decades at port, the SS United States is making history once more as she begins her journey to become the world’s largest artificial reef.
