Marshall Lager passed away three days ago.?He was 53. We are in shock. Thing is, Marshall was not only an influential player in the world of CRM, but he was also a dear friend to both of us and losing him is actually beyond comprehension at the moment. He was one of those people who was warm, caring, funny – and you always hear that when beloved people pass.?But he really was that and a lot more than that. As a friend, we knew he was a friend always. You felt it. As a CRM analyst, he was sharp, insightful and deeply aware. ?As a writer, he was one of the best writers we’ve ever seen in the tech world. And not one word of this is an exaggeration due to our grief. Every single word is true. We’ve known him since he wrote A Pint of View – the back page of CRM Magazine. One thing both of us remember is how well-crafted it was – insightful, sure but really funny at the same time. He was the best at utilizing humor with insight to make his “pint” each issue.?There was no one we’ve ever known better than that at that.?No one. Damn, this is just a shock. When Marshall moved from journalist to analyst he, like all of us, attended dozens of industry events and was an active participant. When he did attend, his presence was always felt. When he didn’t, his presence was missed. He had that kind of impact on all of us. Its simple, We loved the guy. As many of you know, there is an actual CRM community that really is a community. He was a member of that community and one that we ALL cared about and always wanted to be there for him – and vice versa. That’s what makes this so hard to even articulate. Here is a link to the obituary that his family posted. Please note that his funeral is tomorrow and that there is a Zoom link at the bottom of the obituary if you want to attend. https://lnkd.in/e6SX2PJu We all know the expression “may his memory be a blessing.” There is no “may” in Marshall – his memory IS a blessing” but it’s a memory far too soon
