The Cristo Rey Network National Alumni Association has announced its second annual 40 Under 40 honorees—an inspiring group of alumni and college graduates leading in business, education, healthcare, finance, law, technology, and more. For Cristo Rey San Diego, the Class of 2024 marked our first-ever alumni, and we are excited to witness their success and the achievement of all graduates that follow. Copley Foundation for awarding Cristo Rey San Diego High School two grants totaling $148,000—including $128,000 dedicated to prioritizing our teachers! At Cristo Rey, our teachers are at the heart of our mission, providing small class sizes, individualized support, and rigorous academics to prepare students for college and career success. This generous grant will fully fund two newly added teaching positions, ensuring that as our student body grows, we can continue delivering a high-quality college preparatory education that changes the trajectory of students’ futures. Students had the opportunity to learn how to develop their own “CODE”—a set of personal commitments designed to help them become the best versions of themselves. His words encouraged reflection, goal-setting, and self-empowerment, leaving a lasting impact on our students! For Latham, having?Cristo Rey San Diego High School student interns?means gaining a?dedicated, capable, and eager-to-learn team member?who brings fresh energy and professionalism to the workplace. Cristo Rey student interns are?work-ready, adaptable, and prepared to take on real-world responsibilities, thanks to the skills they develop through the?Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP). ?? Not one but two QuestBridge Match Scholarship Recipients–Cristo Rey Continues to Make History!! ?? Cristo Rey San Diego High School is thrilled to announce that Dana Portillo-Rios and Sebastian Molina have been awarded full four-year scholarships through the QuestBridge National College Match! ?? Dana has matched with the University of Pennsylvania, and Sebastian has matched with Pomona College—two of the nation’s top institutions! QuestBridge is a national nonprofit that connects high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with full scholarships to some of the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities. Out of over 25,500 applicants, only 2,627 students nationwide were selected as Match Scholarship Recipients, making this an incredible achievement! The Match Scholarship covers the full cost of attendance, including tuition, housing, books, supplies, and travel expenses—ensuring an affordable, world-class education. We are beyond proud of Dana and Sebastian for their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Our incredible counseling team would like to announce that for the first time in Cristo Rey San Diego history, 100% of our Class of 2025 has been accepted to a four-year university! This is a monumental achievement for our school, our students, and their families—proof that hard work, resilience, and opportunity make dreams a reality! Our Counseling Team—Ms. Vega (Director of College Counseling), Ms. Nadia Lizeth Araiza (College Counselor), and Ms. Mary F. (Alumni Advisor)—has worked tirelessly to ensure every senior is prepared, supported, and equipped to take this next big step in their higher education pathway. Their dedication and leadership have made this historic moment possible. While we celebrate these early acceptances, our seniors are still anxiously awaiting decisions from many prestigious private and public institutions. Each of our seniors applied to an average of 12 universities, demonstrating their ambition and drive for success, and we can’t wait to share more exciting news as we hear back! A special highlight of the event was hearing from Paola P. our alumna and first-ever alum hire at Cristo Rey San Diego! Her journey from student to professional is a testament to the power of opportunity and perseverance. We couldn’t be prouder!
