This November, we honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native American communities. At Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle, we are committed to fostering respect, understanding, and appreciation for the diversity that strengthens us as a community. Let’s take this month to listen, learn, and amplify Indigenous voices.

My eldest child recently turned seven, and as I reflect on the kind of person he is becoming, what excites me most is his generous heart. His eagerness to share with his younger sister, his willingness to help others without hesitation—it all reminds me of the importance of giving back. His spirit, his sense of empathy, fuels my own commitment to serving my community. That's why my work with the Cristo Rey Network board, especially in support of the newly opened Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School, holds such deep personal meaning. The Cristo Rey model isn’t just about education—it’s about transformation. It's about providing students from underserved communities with the tools they need to thrive, not only academically but as leaders and contributors in their communities. As an alum, Verbum Dei Jesuit High School c/o 03’ and board member, I believe in this model because I’ve seen firsthand how it empowers young people to change the trajectory of their lives. Like Kathleen Kingsbury, the New York Times opinion editor, I’m passionate about reminding others of the profound impact this unique educational approach has—not just on students, but on the wider world around them. For me, being part of Cristo Rey is a way to pay forward the values of service and compassion that my son is already learning to live by. #payitforward

Join our team! We're hiring a dedicated High School Basketball Coach to lead 9th-grade boys & girls teams. Practices: Mon-Fri, 2:15-4 PM. Games: weekends + some weekdays. Season: Dec 9–mid-March. Our students had a blast during a recent MAGIS flag football game, showing off their skills, building friendships, and enjoying the sunshine. At Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle, extracurriculars like this aren't just about the game—they're about growth, connection, and living out the MAGIS spirit of striving for excellence.

On November 7, CRJS students explored the world of transportation with Transportation YOU by WTS International! (Women's Transportation Seminar) They toured the King County Metro Transit facilities in Tukwila, learned about bus charging stations, and heard from amazing female leaders about their careers in the field. The students also discussed the importance of female representation and empowering women in this male-dominated industry. CRJS will have school today with students going to work as usual.?If student cannot get to school due to local conditions or circumstances, parents should contact the school asap.

CRJS is monitoring the current power outages in the Puget Sound area. We will make a decision about having classes by 5:45am Thursday, as PSE seeks to restore power in impacted areas. Please track our website, Talking Points, and social media for an update by 5:45am.

Due to power outages around the school, Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School will be closed. Corporate Work Study is also closed.

The Seattle area is preparing for rain and high winds – as a result of a bomb cyclone, approaching Western Washington. We are monitoring the weather and the condition of campus throughout the evening and into tomorrow morning. In the event of a power outage or other weather emergency that prevents the school from normal business operations, CRJS will notify families of a school closure by 6:00am. In the event of school closure, Corporate Work Study is also cancelled. Updates will be sent via TalkingPoints text messages, posted on social media, and sent via email.
