This message is from a veteran who will forever cherish her service and what she learned. Today, I write to continue to pay that forward. While the military means so much to me, you don’t have to come from a military background to use the lessons we are all taught about what it means to be a leader. I brought all of those things home with me and they have helped me navigate many challenges. As a leader, your promotion is earned, but the work is never finished. You have to show up for the people in your care. You have to protect them. You have to be there. Every. Single. Day. On good days and bad. The minute you think a job is “owed” to you because of time or tenure, you’re no longer earning your place. It’s in the most difficult times that I anchor to these three simple truths as a leader: Be worthy of your post. See your people. Embody the mission. If you do those things, if you make your people your true north and you are a constant light for them, you will be able to get through anything. Together. Thank you to everyone today, on Veteran’s Day, who said yes to the call. Who said yes to running towards battle. Who said yes to a life of valor. I hope those in leadership today can learn from your lessons of sacrifice. I celebrate you today and I hope you find your way home. And thank you to my amazing squad at Crispin. I promise I will always strive to be a light. #veteransday #leadership
