Inspiring the community through cricket

关于我们

The ACT Cricket Association began in 1922 as the Federal Territory Cricket Association and changed to the Federal Capital Territory Cricket Association in 1928. It wasn't until 1940 that we became the Australian Capital Territory Cricket Association (ACTCA). Nationally, Cricket ACT is represented by the ACT Comets in the mens Futures League Competition and by the Intravision ACT Meteors in the Womens National Cricket League. When at home, we work and play on lands cared for by the Ngunnawal people.

The third edition of our Women in Sport and Business networking event was a resounding success, with a full house of inspiring attendees gathering at Manuka Oval on Thursday evening. Aptly named ‘EmpowHER’, we were proud to partner with Minerva Network to bring together athletes, members of the Canberra business and sporting community, dignitaries, government officials, and many more. Our aim was to create a supportive environment that champions the advancement of women in both sports and business, and provide the opportunity to foster valuable connections. Thank you to Jade Melbourne, Nikki Ayers and Sarah Cook for sharing your accomplishments and wonderful stories, and to Holly Ferling for being our wonderful event MC. EmpowHER was also supporting the great work of Toora Women inc. , and if you don’t know about the important work they do – please check out their website and support if you can at www.toora.org.au Following the event, our guests then headed outside to the Bradman Stand to watch our Australian Women’s Cricket Team win the Ashes in front of a record-breaking crowd for a Women’s International in Canberra. What a special night!

What an extraordinary night! The Prime Minister's XI Gala was held on Friday night in the Great Hall of Parliament House with more than 400 guests in attendance. Delivered in partnership by Cricket ACT and the Australia India Business Council, the event set the stage for the iconic PM's XI match and was a true celebration of the bond between our nations and how sport has the power to unite and inspire. Our guest of honor for the event was renowned cricket commentator, former professional cricketer, and former head coach of the Indian Men’s Cricket Team - Ravi Shastri. Ravi stepped in at the eleventh hour due to Gautam Gambhir's sudden return to India due to family reasons and was a highlight of the night! Guests also heard from an impressive line-up of cricketing legends such as Tim Paine, Erin Osborne, and Scott Boland, whilst Assistant Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Julian Hill delivered a powerful, amusing, and inspiring address on behalf of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, highlighting the deep ties between Australia and India and the business/trade opportunities that exist. Sapphire Dance mesmerised the room with their energetic and vibrant Bollywood performances, while DJ Sunny Ghuman got our guests out onto the dancefloor to close out the formalities. A heartfelt thank you to our event partners for their generous support - Indian Link Media Group CPA Australia Sunny Malhotra (Sunny Homes), Abode Hotels Centre for Australia-India Relations and Cricket Australia And finally, thank you to those behind the scenes who helped bring this event to life over the past months. - Our flawless Master of Ceremonies - Holly Ferling - Tony Fraser MAICD and the entire AIBC team - thank you for being our brilliant co-hosts - The entire team at Damsel and Sprout - Ashleigh Gleeson Craig Ebeling - The professional and friendly staff at Australian Parliament House - All our wonderful and dedicated staff at Cricket ACT
