CRGA Design was excited to have participated in the inaugural Howard Pickleball Cup this past Tuesday! Usama Hassanein, John Zierdt, Austin Tucker Jessica Bauer, Dave Peabody, and Nicholas Newman all brought their A-game to the tourney and had a smashing success. The event, put together by the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center Foundation, raised support for essential education scholarships for nurses and community workers, a cause CRGA was proud to take part in.

The AIA Baltimore Health and Wellness Committee convened a lively panel discussion to understand Maryland's Building Energy Performance Standards and how these will impact existing and new construction healthcare portfolios.?Maryland is a net importer of electricity, peaking in the summer months.?Starting next year, energy use reporting is required for most buildings over 35,000 SF by June 1st, 2025.?Our panelists agreed that long-term planning will most likely require exploring how to augment this available power.?Cogeneration of electricity for operational redundancy and sustainability has already been implemented in a new medical center on the Easten Shore, which is incorporating geothermal and foregoing the use of gas. This week we recognize the important role that healthcare engineers have in ensuring a safe and efficient environment for all patients, residents, visitors and staff. CRGA Design’s Senior Vice President and current Heathcare Council Vice Chair, Rolf Haarstad, AIA, cohosted the September 19th “CEO Coffee Chat” with The Healthcare Council’s CEO Les Pitton.?The chat featured Dr. Stuart Levine, President, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, as our presenter.?Dr. Levine gave a terrific overview of the history of MFSMC and an incredibly successful model for improved Emergency Department throughput.???Great presentation and great dialogue with regional healthcare leaders!
