Exclusive channels can be a key part of a FAST service's bid to differentiate itself from others. CRG Global analysis of FASTMaster data from February, included in the NAB Amplify report "A Beginner's Guide to FAST," shows which services rely on these the most, with Local Now and Sling Freestream on a different tier ahead of other services. Yet context is essential in understanding how this is. Local Now sees a blend of channels based on Allen Entertainment properties as well as FAST channels not carried by contemporaries (arguably 'smaller' FAST channels) and a large number of local news channels not available on other systems. Sling Freestream on the other hand sees most of its exclusive channels being livestreams of Arabic or Hindi and Bengali channels. Freevee is the major FAST service with the most exclusive channels and these present a different case study. These channels include a large number of recognizable IP, drawing on Amazon's MGM and Amazon Studios vaults, and offer a look into a strategy where mass-audience content is utilized as a means to attract an audience, versus the more niche interests noted prior.
