The Lloyd's mirror effect, in the context of underwater acoustics, is a frequency-dependent interference pattern that occurs when sound waves reflect off the surface and interfere with the direct path. By observing this pattern, you can determine a ship's closest point of approach to a sonar array. This spectrogram recorded from the Crewless Marine experimental array is a good example of this effect with three ships passing by. #bluetech #acoustics

BlueSwell cohort V orientation day at the Aquarium! ? A partnership between SeaAhead and the Aquarium's Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life, the BlueSwell program is a bluetech accelerator program with a focus on bridging the gaps between innovators, ocean experts, and the venture community. Last week, the eight companies selected in cohort V visited the Aquarium as part of their orientation. They toured the Aquarium, met potential mentors, and discussed their work at a special networking event. The companies in this cohort focus on supporting ocean sustainability with target areas like marine debris and pollution, climate change, and coastal resilience.
