Her project, My name is Luiza de Jesus, was selected for the European Film Market – EFM's 'Pitch Perfect: Producers Showcase Projects Analysed by AI’ event powered by Europe's leading film industry focused AI platform Largo.AI. The high intensity, and always buzzing pitch session took place on February 15, 2025 at the EFM. Lydie, the executive producer at Take It Easy—a distinguished Portuguese independent production company known for its multi-awarded projects like An Avocado Pit and Macabre—utilized AI-driven insights in collaboration with CresCine and Largo.ai to refine her project. The 'Pitch Perfect' event served as a global platform for producers to showcase projects enhanced by Largo.ai's production intelligence. ??Celebrating 20 Years of Innovation at DLD Munich! ?? We had the incredible opportunity last week to attend Europe’s flagship technology and innovation conference, DLD, as it marked its 20th anniversary in Munich from January 16th - 18th, 2025. This "must attend for anyone in innovation leadership" brought together over a hundred global innovation visionaries as speakers from diverse sectors, including AI, technology, media, academia, and politics, alongside more than a thousand invited attendees from across Europe and beyond. At CresCine, we are deeply committed to advancing conversations that steer the future of innovation in Europes film, content and media sector at large. Thus Our very own Sten Saluveer was proud to represent us at the DLD, connecting with fellow innovation & content executives for debates and sharing insights and the results CresCine has achieved. ?? A key topic at DLD that dominated discussions was Europe's pursuit to maintain and bolster its global competitiveness. Despite Europe securing only 20% of venture capital investments compared to US companies, our public R&D funding remains nearly on par with the US. This paradox raises crucial questions on how we can fuel new growth engines across industries. As Andrew McAfee, Principal Research Scientist at MIT Sloan School of Management, aptly emphasized in his DLD keynote, Europe must close two critical gaps: Venture Capital investment and the emergence of new public companies capable of disrupting existing industries or pioneering new growth avenues. ?? Happy Holidays & An Insightful New Year 2025 from CresCine! ?? If you missed out here's some of our key insights and achievements in 2024 (and there's even more to come in 2025!) We published our large scale, detail packed digital report Small European Film Markets: Portraits and Comparisons. The freshly updated report details the characteristics of the seven selected ecosystems in terms of the development of their film industries, production capacity, approaches to public creative industries policy, as well as the key challenges facing each one. They feature a five-dimensional comparison of the ecosystems’ levels of domestic audiences, theatrical exports, average budgets, production volumes, and festival recognition from 2014 to 2022 and much more. Our academic members made a splash at the annual Media Industries conference held in 2024 at London's King College, with several presentations, panels and podcasts. Future of Film financing was CresCine's catch at Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes, with Europe's power players in film and series financing Elisa Alvares, Roosa Toivonen, and Louis Laydreyt sharing their highly anticipated insights on whats hot and whats not in content and film finance. Professor Indrek Ibrus, heading the development of CresCine's upcoming FIDA toolbox, got awarded with the National Research Award from the Academy of Sciences and the Estonian Government for his outstanding contributions to Social Sciences! AI, AI and more AI was on the minds of many, and CresCine shared its insights on the impact of generative AI in Asia's leading genre festival Bifan, Taiwan's Taipei Film Academy, and at the FOCAL Medici worksession in Sweden for leaders from film institutions across the globe. Our year end sessions at the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event 2024 focused on future of audiovisual education hosted by FilmEU - European University 's and CresCine's Ulrike Rohn, and key industry highlights of 2024 in a speedrun presentation from Storytek Innovation & Venture Studio's Sten Saluveer CresCine took the center at the 15th Annual International Small Cinemas Conference in Zagreb. At the Producers Club, talented producers Andreia Nunes (Portugal) and Emilija Slu?konyt? (Lithuania) countries gathered for an exclusive one to one training and exchange. They had the invaluable opportunity to present their in development projects and engage in dialogues with experienced financing and packaging mentors Roosa Toivonen (Ikigai Nordic) and Alen Bulic (Silver Reel), exploring the latest trends and strategic approache in European film financing and packaging. ???? Meanwhile, the session on AI's radical mpact on cinema sparked engaging discussions about the ethical use of AI in European arthouse and Independent cinema. Europe's top experts Maciej Zemojcin (Verisearch.ai) and Margarita Grubina (Respeecher), moderated by CresCine's Sten-Kristian Saluveer, shared their latest insights on how AI is reshaping storytelling, pushing the boundaries of creativity and voice cloning, and setting new ethical and responsible standards in the industry. ?????
