Last week, the Crescent team joined Chicago’s commercial real estate leaders at the Four Seasons Hotel for BOMA/Chicago’s 122nd Annual Meeting. The event celebrated the leadership, progress, and innovation of 2024, while looking ahead to the future of our industry. Newly elected President Nancy Capadona and the 2025 Board of Directors were introduced, ushering in an exciting new chapter for BOMA Chicago. The Chicago Police Department was honored with the Civic Partner Award, and Chief Larry Snelling delivered an inspiring speech on their work to keep our city safe. We heard from Digital Rights Management - Real Estate Digital Media Rights Licensing (DRM) on how Extended Reality could revolutionize property ownership and management, shaping the future of CRE. BOMA shared updates on its Apprenticeship Program, the first of its kind, which connects top talent from local colleges with hands-on industry opportunities, building a stronger pipeline for future leaders. We also learned about a BOMA Chicago study on the promising results of DEI initiatives, including data showing that young women are entering the workforce in record numbers and are on track to hold more than 50% of leadership roles for the next generation. Today, we celebrate Valentina and her remarkable career as she retires after 28 years of dedicated service at 121 W Wacker. Valentina started her journey with Crescent in 1993. Over the years, she’s worked for various janitorial providers but concludes her career where it all began – with us. Valentina's tenacity, lively spirit, unmatched attention to detail, and commitment to excellence have made her an invaluable part of the team. She has worked with many property managers over the years and extends her heartfelt thanks to AMERITUS LLC for being her final management team. Her shoes will certainly be hard to fill, and we’ll miss her presence immensely. Veteran's Day marks the day Germany and the Allies signed an agreement in 1918 to end hostilities, with the fighting ending on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. It became known as "the war to end all wars." A year later, in 1919, President Wilson proclaimed 11/11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. In 1954, this day was later changed to Veterans Day to honor the sacrifice and patriotism of all Veterans of U.S.?wars and active-duty military personnel. It was officially declared a federal holiday in 1968. We're especially grateful to the Crescent Team Members who have served.
