Recently, members in our club read The Lean Marketplace. A book that delivers entrepreneurship strategies through the lens of lean principles. The book showcases how resources, adaptability, and customer-focused strategies drive innovation. Entrepreneurship is more than just starting a business – it’s about creativity, problem-solving, and adapting to change. This book is a must-read for college students who are eager to learn, experiment, and take those first steps toward creating something meaningful.

October was an amazing month for Creighton’s Entrepreneurship Club! Here’s a look at some highlights from our journey this past month: ?? Hosted The 10 Hour Startup challenge – an intensive, collaborative event where creative minds gathered for a full day of ideation and innovation. The success of this event was great, and we’re excited to establish it as an annual tradition. We can’t wait to watch the companies, ideas, and teams grow from the 10 hours of focus and hard work. ?? Attended 1 Million Cups Omaha at Millwork Commons – a local entrepreneurial gathering just a few minutes down the road. It’s always inspiring to connect with the greater Omaha entrepreneurial community and exchange insights with founders. ?? During our Wednesday meeting, we had the privilege of hosting Pat Lazure for a fireside chat. Pat’s journey and insights sparked meaningful conversations, giving our members valuable advice and a closer look at the entrepreneurial mindset. ?? Welcomed 30+ new members, further enriching our network and expanding our community of aspiring entrepreneurs. ?? Volunteered with The Hustle Conference at Creighton University's Heider College of Business, a premier networking event connecting students with leading entrepreneurs and industry professionals. This was an invaluable opportunity for hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. October was filled with growth, learning, and connection. As we look forward, we’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries of entrepreneurship and fostering innovation within our community. #Entrepreneurship #Networking #Innovation #CreightonUniversity #ENTClub #TheHustleConference

Last Friday a portion of our club drove over to Ralston for the Nebraska Startup Job Mixer! We had a great time meeting founders and learning more about the Nebraska startup community. With members who have their own entrepreneurial endeavors and creative ideas, this opportunity was so important as we got to apply our knowledge and skills to real-world application!

This past Saturday, I had the honor to host Creighton Entrepreneurship Club's first annual Jaytank alongside my team. It was a major success in every way possible and I couldn’t be more proud of everyone involved with putting this on. I have taken the past few days to think about and reflect on the event.? Here are a few of the things I have been thinking about and would like to highlight: - We had around 100 attendees at our first ever big club event… on a Saturday…. and not a single one of them were required to be there To have a turn out as amazing as this in its first year was such an amazing thing to see. This was a sign of encouragement that we are doing something good and onto something big! -12 students, 6 companies We had 6 student-started, student-run companies pitch at this event. And each and every single one of them did absolutely amazing! They stepped up to the stressful, nerve racking challenge of pitching their company not only in front of a prestigious panel but also a large, live crowd. -Our panel of 5 "Jays" We created a panel of “Jays" to replicate “Sharks” from the hit TV show “Shark Tank” and we created it be a diverse group made up of founders, professors, investors, philanthropists, and presidents. This was an incredibly fun piece of the puzzle to build for the event. The "Jays" kept this event moving forward by asking thought-provoking questions and added their own entertaining flair throughout the event. Huge thanks again to John Blazek, Brian Boerner, Cindy Heider, Taylor Stormberg, and Erica Wassinger for being a part of this event. -We couldn’t have done this alone My team comprised of Sophia Baedke, Erin Brown, Mary Margaret Mellen, and Will Smalley have put up with me for months now?? In all seriousness, we worked together as an amazing team to build something as cool as this in year 1 and I am very much looking forward to everything that is in store for year 2. Also, big thanks is in order to Caitlin Feldmann, M.A. Feldman and the rest of the John P. Fahey Career Center. Thanks to Caitlin, she helped us take this event up a notch with her planning capabilities, event expertise, and “get stuff done” attitude. Lastly, we need entrepreneurship! And we need to support it! Through this event and the club throughout the semester, I have seen so much great brainstorming, business planning, problem solving, ideas pivoting, and team making. As this school year is coming to a close, I already cannot wait for the next year of Creighton’s Entrepreneurship Club. So much is in store for everyone involved! Creighton community, greater Omaha area, and the world - watch out! I recommend you get involved and get connected with all of us before we take off to the moon! Creighton entrepreneurship is happening and Creighton entrepreneurs are coming!

This weekend marked the first annual Jaytank! The event was the first networking and student pitch event at Creighton University. This weekend Jaytank came to life! Working behind the scenes to make this event a possibility was such an amazing opportunity. Working on the amazing team with Samuel Perkinson, Will Smalley, Mary Margaret Mellen, and Erin Brown has been such a pleasure. I am so unbelievably proud of all the hard work, dedication, and growth in all of us throughout the planning process. I am already looking forward to the future of entrepreneurship on campus, exciting times ahead! At the event, I also had the privilege of pitching develUP, a company that Carter Zuzenak and I have been working on for months. A company with a mission to coach junior and seniors in high school through their transition into college. The company delivers credible, clear packages that aim to cultivate success professionally, academically, and socially. With the launch coming in a few months, we are more than excited to keep growing and learning. Stay connected for future updates and company milestones! This event would not have been the same without Caitlin Feldmann, M.A., her commitment and enthusiasm reflects how much she cares about Creighton University, Creighton Entrepreneurship Club, and the students within it.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to both help lead and pitch at JayTank. It’s incredible to think that just a few months ago, at the end of the first semester, our team was figuring out how to start a new club on campus. We had aspirations of integrating Creighton students into the Nebraska entrepreneurial landscape and a pipe dream of hosting Creighton’s first ever pitch competition. JayTank is significant not only for its cash prize. Last weekend, student founders were able to improve both themselves and their businesses by refining their ability to sell their ideas. They established connections with key figures in the local startup and Creighton community, accessing resources, mentorship, and funding for their future endeavors. Most gratifying for me was witnessing a clear overlap between Creighton students and the Omaha entrepreneurial landscape for the first time—a trend that we at the Creighton Entrepreneurship Club will work hard to sustain. Finally, a special thank you to Caitlin Feldmann, M.A. for her assistance in organizing this event. JayTank wouldn't be JayTank without her, and I cannot express enough appreciation for all the hard work she dedicated alongside our exec team, going above and beyond to bring everything together. The future is bright for Creighton entrepreneurship!
