关于我们
Through research, coalition building, and technical assistance, the Center for Racial Equity in Education (CREED) centers students of color, inspires institutional change, and facilitates better educational practice to transform the education system with the vision that one day race will no longer be the primary predictor of educational outcomes. To advance this mission, CREED conducts evidence-based research; builds coalitions of school leaders, educators, parents, policymakers, and community members who have a shared agenda of creating equitable school systems; and supports schools and educators with technical assistance and training designed to improve educational outcomes for students of color. Our work is grounded in the belief that if we center students of color, inspire institutional change, and facilitate better educational practice, we can transform the education system so the lives and experiences of students of color are central to how schools function.

The Tuskegee Airmen were African American pilots and support personnel who served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Before them, no African American had ever been a United States military pilot. Last month, the US Air Force temporarily suspended lesson plans and training courses involving videos of the Tuskegee Airmen. This was done in compliance with the Trump administration’s executive order to end diversity, equity and inclusion programs within the federal government. CREED is proud to share the history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, who bravely risked their lives to defend a nation that still refuses to properly honor them as heroes. #BlackHistoryYear

Education has always been a battleground for race and equality in America. From segregation to desegregation, from redlining to school funding gaps, the history of race in education still shapes the way students learn today. This evening, our Executive Director James E. Ford, Ph.D., MAT will join Red Wine and Blue to connect the past to the present and discuss the current challenges we are facing. Join the call: https://lnkd.in/eVh55kaf

Since 1939, North Carolina Central University has granted over 1,400 degrees in Library and Information Science making the university the largest producer of Black librarians in the country. However, the field of librarianship is still in desperate need of diversity. That's why NCCU is bringing in the next generation of librarians. #TheNC10 https://lnkd.in/etnTUT6z

"A?number of national teacher surveys?revealed that Black teachers — and teachers of color generally — report higher levels of optimism about their students’ futures and the state of the teaching profession than their white colleagues. Many Black teachers we’ve spoken with expressed confusion about this, emphasizing their own struggles to navigate their work environment or that?Black teachers have higher turnover rates than their white peers. Reflecting on this incongruity, we’ve come to the conclusion that to be a Black teacher in America today is to — as James Baldwin put it — 'be in a rage almost all the time,' while simultaneously operating in a constant state of hope." https://lnkd.in/g5hhvqA8
