Bridging the Gap Between Equity-Focused Nonprofits and Credit Bureaus to Unlock Credit as an Asset for All

关于我们

Credit Builders Alliance (CBA) is an innovative, non-profit social enterprise that empowers a diverse and growing network of hundreds of nonprofits to help low- and moderate-income individuals and families build strong credit and other financial assets. Our Philosophy: Good credit is essential to achieving and maintaining financial stability. This is an elusive goal for millions of low-income and underserved individuals and families excluded from the credit mainstream. CBA believes that mission driven nonprofits are uniquely positioned to help these struggling households build credit as an asset. We are honored to support our Credit Building Community with timely, relevant, and actionable credit-building tools and solutions!

  • Our CEO, Dara Duguay, was recently interviewed by U.S. News & World Report to share insights on debt consolidation and how it can help consumers manage high-interest credit card balances more effectively: "If you have multiple credit cards with balances and high interest rates, consolidating your debt may allow you to reduce the amount you pay in interest and pay it off faster. For example, "Let's say you have eight different credit cards, and some of them are at 18% interest or more," says Dara Duguay, chief executive officer at Credit Builders Alliance. "If you could consolidate them all together at a lower interest rate and make one payment, you would save essentially a lot of money." 5 Best Ways to Consolidate Credit Card Debt ?? • ?? Event Recap: Building Credit, Building Health – Atlanta, GA Yesterday, Credit Builders Alliance (CBA) and Kaiser Permanente Georgia hosted Building Credit, Building Health in Atlanta, bringing together healthcare professionals, nonprofit financial practitioners, and community leaders to explore the powerful connection between credit and health. The event emphasized that financial well-being is a critical social determinant of health, as echoed by Robyn Bussey, Just Health Director at Partnership for Southern Equity, who stated, "Credit and access to credit is a social determinant of health." Discussions highlighted how barriers to credit access impact housing, healthcare, and overall financial stability, particularly in underserved communities. Key Takeaways from the Day: ?? Opening Remarks – Dr. LaKesha Davison, Pediatric Lead Physician & Co-Lead for Equity, Inclusion & Diversity at Kaiser Permanente Georgia, emphasized the role of financial health in healthcare access. ?? Panel Discussion – Experts like Michael Bryant (New Life Community Alliance) explored practical solutions to integrate financial empowerment into community programs. ?? Keynote Speaker – Liz Coyle, Executive Director of Georgia Watch, shed light on systemic financial challenges affecting health outcomes. ?? Closing Remarks – Stefanie Hurst, Sr. Director of Community Health at Kaiser Permanente Georgia, reinforced the need for collaboration to create healthier, financially stable communities. ?? Housing & Credit Disparities – Data from the Partnership for Southern Equity underscored these inequities: "In Georgia, 21% of Black families live in substandard housing conditions compared to 7% of Black families and 6% of white families, nationally. (American Housing Survey, 2021)." A huge thank you to Kaiser Permanente Georgia and all our speakers, attendees, and partners who contributed to this vital discussion. We look forward to continuing this work and advancing financial and health equity together. #BuildingCreditBuildingHealth #FinancialWellness #HealthEquity #CommunityImpact
