[CONFERENCE] ???? It’s a wrap! We hosted our 18th annual Global High Yield & Leveraged Finance conference in London yesterday to bring together our issuer and investor clients. This year’s strong line-up of corporate and sponsor clients from Europe, the US and Asia, representing a wide cross-section of sectors, was reflected by significant interest from the global investor community. ?? The conference also featured a series of compelling panels and talks on the macro economy and geopolitical environment, and the dynamics and trends of the leveraged capital markets, expected M&A activity, and the growth of private debt, with leading representatives from the buyside community, private equity, leveraged corporates, rating agencies, credit strategists and economists. [DEAL] The 495 megawatts Fengmiao 1 project by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), which we have extensively supported as a one-stop-shop financier, breaks new grounds in Taiwan’s offshore wind sector. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, this is the first of the projects awarded under Round 3.1 of the government’s offshore wind auction to secure funding through US$3.1 billion debt facilities. Aims to providing much-needed renewable energy to large energy users, it is also the first-ever offshore wind project in Taiwan to be supported by multiple corporate offtakers under power purchase agreements concluded with six leading international and local companies. We are delighted to have once again accompanied our long-standing client CIP in driving Taiwan’s offshore wind expansion with its third project locally, after the successful construction of Changfang & Xidao and Zhong Neng. We contributed to the arranging, lending and hedging of this tailor-made financial solution. [DEAL] ???? As sole green agent and lender, we supported Taiwanese semiconductor technology company GlobalWafers Co., Ltd. in securing a €8 million equivalent #GreenLoan. Proceeds will be used to finance the construction of a solar power plant to power its crystal-growing factory in Denmark, operated by its Danish subsidiary Topsil GlobalWafers A/S. ?? This investment will support Topsil’s factory to be the world’s first sustainable crystal-growing plant, running on 100% self-generated low carbon electricity. Any surplus solar power will be fed back to the Danish community. ? This green loan not only represents a significant milestone in advancing #CleanEnergy transitions and low-carbon technology development, but also underscores GlobalWafers’ commitment to building a sustainable semiconductor ecosystem. [DIVERSITY] Let's dive into our Diversity Week! ?? International Women’s Day marked the starting point of this annual event by engaging our global staff around strong initiatives fostering gender equality and #Inclusion topics. ?? Through the development of initiatives such as workshops, conferences and round tables around the world, whether in Brazil, Japan, France or the United States, we seek to better inform and train our teams on these topics, while also raising awareness. We took the opportunity to extend the discussion to technology, as the use of AI is increasing every day. During a conference, we questioned the impact of Artificial Intelligence on diversity issues and more especially, the influence of unconscious biases and stereotypes that may impact the algorithms. [DEAL] We implemented a novel hybrid bond structure for Hong Kong property developer Hysan Development Company Limited Development. This is a significant milestone for Hysan as it navigates the global hybrid capital markets with a pioneering global-first approach. Hybrid bonds are securities that feature both debt and equity characteristics. This issuance is the first transaction globally that successfully achieved a 1-notch issue rating outcome under Moody Investor Services’ revised hybrid methodology published in February 2024, which has a perpetual maturity. Hysan conducted a concurrent public tender offer for its outstanding US$750 million junior subordinated perpetual securities which has its first call date in June 2025. The highly successful tender offer received a total of US$690 million of instructions. In January this year, we also led another Hong Kong-based corporate in issuing a hybrid bond and we are one of only two banks to play a lead role on both transactions. These transactions showcase our continued commitment to offering clients best-in-class solutions through innovation and expertise.
