Most times, the signs of what to monetize are right in front of you ?? Jessica Morrobel shared with us that she ignored THREE clear signs before realizing she needed to put a paywall behind her expertise: ?? Engaged audience? Ignored. ?? People asking for mentorship? Ignored. ?? A LinkedIn comment that made it all click? That was the moment. Keep an eye out for the signs in your DMs, comments, etc.

For a long time, people dismissed creators as just ‘TikTokers’ or ‘YouTubers.’ But now? They’re not just making content — they’re building businesses, launching companies, and shaping industries. As Erin McGoff put it as our latest event: ‘We’re serious people.’”

Most creators don't realize their audience is already telling them what they'd pay for. But most miss these signs... During our latest Creator Economy NYC panel, Jessica Morrobel shared an insight that resonated with everyone in the room. "I noticed three clear signals from my audience telling me exactly what they needed," she said. "Looking back, I can't believe I missed them at first." After curating countless creator conversations, here's what I've learned: Your free content isn't just content — it's your most powerful market research tool. Erin McGoff, a career-focused creator, put it perfectly during our panel discussion: "I get hundreds of DMs every day, hundreds of comments, and I began to see similar pain points emerging." Those notifications? They're not just engagement metrics. They're telling you exactly what people would pay for. Your audience is already showing you their needs. Every comment asking for more details is market demand in disguise. Each DM requesting specific advice points to an unmet need. Those story replies asking "but how exactly did you do that?" That's your audience writing your product roadmap. Most creators see engagement as validation. But I've learned it's actually your audience telling you what they value most. Your next monetizable offering is sitting in your notifications right now. Jessica saw it firsthand — once she recognized these signals, she knew exactly what her audience would pay for. Now, she's on it. ?? What other signals would you add? ----- → I dove deeper into this in my newsletter: https://lnkd.in/eKi9eRdy → Watch the full panel here: https://lnkd.in/eCx9N6BN

When you look closely at the brands you love, it's rarely just one big thing. It's a thousand tiny moments. Planning our latest Creator Economy NYC event, I caught myself settling for "good enough." Standard drink tickets? ? Basic napkins? ? Regular bar menu? ? But then I remembered something that changed my entire approach to community and brand building: "Make the boring parts of your business fun." So I started thinking bigger... What if our drink tickets weren't just some carnival tickets? What if they were conversation pieces? Looking at our brand, it hit me — we could reimagine our iconic MetroCard as 'DrinkCard.' So I got on it, and designed the drink tickets. "F*ck it, Create It" mindset in action. In fact, they were such a hit some people chose to keep the ticket vs. getting a drink ?? But why stop there? Those plain napkins scattered across tables? They became branded conversation starters. Because let's be real — sometimes we all need a little help breaking the ice at events. But in a natural way! And those standard cocktails? They transformed into the Teacha-tini (shoutout to our amazing sponsors Teachable) and the CENYC-Spritz. Building community and a brand isn't just about the big, splashy moments. It's about crafting dozens of tiny touchpoints that make people feel something. Think about it: A drink ticket could just be a ticket. A napkin could just be a napkin. A cocktail could just be a cocktail. Or they could be stories worth sharing. Moments worth remembering. Connections waiting to happen. To my fellow creators and founders: The magic isn't just in your content or your product... It's in all those "boring" touchpoints you might be overlooking. Make them count. Make them memorable. Make them uniquely yours. Because when you care about the small stuff, people notice you care about everything!
