First NYC Excursion of 2025 is a wrap! ??? What a lovely Sunday afternoon exploring SCULPTURE! getting our hands dirty with clay modeling, experimenting with found objects, and transforming our 2D creations into 3D characters. It's a new year, a new opportunity to build a playground of possibility and navigate the obstacles of obligation. In our upcoming exploration we're sure to learn a thing or two about the spaces we inhabit… January's Creative Quest theme is?Sculpture. The art of shaping, forming, and moulding - a language that speaks through space itself, a dialogue between material and maker. In true CQ style, we'll venture far beyond the world of marble busts and bronze plinths to carve out a fresh understanding of this ancient art form and its relevance to our creative lives. We'll look at the forms and objects in our everyday environments with renewed curiosity and blur the lines of where sculpture begins and ends... "Where did I learn to understand sculpture? In the woods by looking at the trees, along roads by observing the formation of clouds, in the studio by studying the model, everywhere except in the schools." — Auguste Rodin This month the world really is our studio! Our challenge is to go beyond Noticing, embrace the imagination of your hands and venture down the pathway of Making. Mastery is not the objective here. Playful experiments certainly is. In a world dominated by screens and pixels, sculpture invites us back to the physical realm. We'll revel in the tactile - the feeling of clay (or playdoh) in our palms, perhaps thinking twice before recycling those cardboard boxes and wondering whether they have one more identity left in them. This is your invitation to take what's raw, unformed, or overlooked and keep experimenting until perhaps it’s our own creative spirits that we are sculpting… ???? ??
