?? Social Innovation Accelerator Fellow Spotlight: “No one achieves greatness alone,” says Rachel Rai Henry.?? ? That mantra is at the heart of Creative Flow School, the organization Rachel Henry, CWDP founded to help students see their creativity as an asset to building a thriving future.? ? “My own journey from education to career was shaped by adversity,” she says. “Navigating limited resources and a lack of mentorship taught me resilience and the power of creativity in problem-solving. I realized how essential it is to equip students with these tools early.”? ? Through the school’s Jacking All Trades? initiative, Rachel provides emerging leaders aged 16 to 24 with the resources needed to secure high-demand, well-paying careers. This includes connecting them to career pathways, certifications and mentors. Her work goes hand in hand with UWMD’s Aspire United 2030 goals, making Rachel a perfect fit for our Accelerator program, which she says has given her an opportunity to expand her impact in the community. “The Accelerator reinforced my belief that collaboration and innovation are at the heart of meaningful change,” she adds. “Moving forward, I’ll focus on strengthening partnerships with schools, businesses, workforce organizations and community partners, while continuing to center creativity as a critical skill.” Rachel is one of 10 Accelerator fellows who’ll be competing for a spot at The Pitch during next week’s Demo Day.?

I really shouldn’t be here… I ended Friday with a moment of gratitude and reflection as I revisited Kindra Hall ‘s Stories That Stick. One particularly resonant quote she shares from a pivotal character in the book is: “I know things are hard, but if you give up, you’ll regret it.” And here’s the truth… Fifteen years ago, when I could no longer afford college, I was consumed by the feelings of shame and defeat. Being the eldest of 12 children and the first in my family to attend college, the statistics were not in my favor. They predicted I would end up back in Detroit, earning minimum wage, with my college degree and a fulfilling career forever out of reach. However, since I was a child, I dared to dream of making a difference in the world for little girls and boys who faced challenges like mine. Choosing to chase those dreams was the turning point. That decision marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life and laid the groundwork for what I now know as Creative Flow School. If you’re facing challenges in your life or career, let me offer you a reminder today—and always: The dreams you hold today are the solutions to tomorrow’s problems. Please keep going.
