CI offers engaged learning, cross-disciplinary interactions and undergraduate research: unique to Clemson University.
关于我们
CI is the imaginative combination of engaged learning and undergraduate research, and it is undergraduate research unique to Clemson University. Students take on problems that spring from their own curiosity, from a professor's challenge or from the pressing needs of the world around them. Team-based investigations are led by a faculty mentor and typically span two to four semesters. Students take ownership of their projects and take the risks necessary to solve problems and get answers. Topics are boundless. Students often find themselves presenting their work at national conferences, fielding questions from professionals. This invaluable experience produces exceptional graduates. Our Creative Inquiry participants develop critical thinking skills, learn to solve problems as a team and hone their communication and presentation skills.

?? Meet Lucy Timmins! Last semester, she participated in Clemson’s Moot Court Competition CI (Project 1768), which simulates appellate law—when a higher court reviews a decision made by a lower court. The project focuses on preparing an appellate brief after careful research and then presenting oral arguments. ????Through the Moot Court CI, Lucy learned to break down complex cases, think critically, and argue both sides of a case. It provided a hands-on legal experience that will be valuable for their future career in law. ??♀?Outside of coursework, Lucy is a brother of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity and president of Clemson Friday Morning Swim. #ClemsonCreativeInquiry

Engineering Nanobiomaterials for Delivery of Cancer Therapy ??In an ongoing effort to support cancer research, Clemson students are developing micro- and nano-based cancer therapy with the goal of advancing its delivery. Led by Angela Alexander-Bryant, the goals of Creative Inquiry #1617 include research on (1) delivering efficient drug therapy to the tumor site, (2) enhancing drug uptake by tumor cells and, therefore, (3) reducing the uptake by healthy cells. Additionally, they are investigating using polymers that respond to the body’s environment to release drugs in a controlled manner. ??Most recently, in November 2024, team member Ruxi Xia presented her research at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists. This research showcases the safety and effectiveness of new peptides for cancer cells and how well the cells can internalize them. ??Check out more in the 2025 release of Decipher Magazine, coming soon. #ClemsonCreativeInquiry

How cool, Madison! Keep up the great work. ????
I was privileged this past weekend to attend the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) National Conference in Denver, Colorado. My partner Samantha Reiter and I presented our preliminary findings related to Jungian Personality types. It was incredible to hear and speak to other researchers in the psychology field. In addition to my research partner, Savannah Ouellette and Callie Booden traveled alongside me to present their research. I would like to thank Ben Cotterill my advisor, Creative Inquiry + Undergraduate Research, and Clemson's Psychology Department for making this opportunity possible. I look forward continuing research in the field.
