As part of the European Creative FLIP program focused on the development of pilot Learning Labs dedicated to sustainable fashion education, Illustrious Lab and #studioabi are collaborating again with the launch of their Learning Lab ‘BLISS LLab - Bridging Learning in Sustainable Styles’. For six months, with a CM2 class (10-11 years old) from the Paris region, BLISS LLab's mission is to introduce sustainable fashion, in all its dimensions, including job profiles and protection of creative rights. Our original and innovative project “Growing our clothes” offers students the opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of apprentice designers and, through active teaching based on questioning, collective experience and manipulation, to explore the living origins of the raw materials of their clothing and, above all, to prepare for the future by imagining alternative and creative ways to dress in harmony with nature. Thanks to the involvement of French innovative actors through loans and donations, such as Interprofession du Chanvre - InterChanvre Nona Source Alterskin? by Alternative Innovation ICTYOS the students have already been able to discover and handle, during the first two sessions that have just ended, very high-quality and even exclusive materials such as fish skin, leather from rice bran, French hemp, but also high-quality materials from the dormant stocks of the largest French know-how houses. This initiatory journey aims to cultivate their own curiosity and relationship with the world, starting with the living world, and to broaden their horizons. The objective is to imagine a collective garden to grow our clothes and grow with them. Sessions 3 and 4 next March are already being prepared, you will find in our upcoming posts and stories the preview of our preparatory work behind the scenes. #Learninglabs #Blissllab #creativeflip #illustriouslab #studioabi007 #textileeducation #innovationinfashion #innovationineducation #alternativeeducation #designinnovation #codesign #fashiondesign #textiledesign #changemarkers #textile #textileinnovation #sustainablefashion #sustainabletextile #creativeworkshops #design #designer

#CulturalDealEU?? Seeking the compass to increase funding for culture ??The Cultural Deal for Europe initiative kicks off with a call for increased EU funding, urging 2% of the next EU budget to be dedicated to culture. “A Cultural Deal for Europe requires funding… I will advocate for the increased funding” said the European Commissioner, Glenn Micallef, in his introduction to the annual policy dialogue held in Brussels. ??Representatives of the three co-organisers of the dialogue - Culture Action Europe, Europa Nostra and the European Cultural Foundation- introduced the ‘Cultural Compass’ initiative, focusing on freedom of expression, heritage protection, and AI’s impact on creative industries. ??"Remember that we can create through culture a perception without any force or battle, we can create narratives through culture” pointed out Marta Cienkowska, Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage in Poland. ?? ?? Our Learning Lab "Wear the Change: Modular Sweaters and the Puzzle of Infinite Possibilities", implemented by Martina Marolt, kicked off ?? Each students will have the exciting opportunity to create their own unique modular sweater ?? Stay tuned for more updates!
How Did We Explore the World of Fashion with Eighth Graders in Our First Creative FLIP Learning Labs Workshop? Sustainable fashion is the future, and I am incredibly proud that BY/MARTIS is part of this movement! As one of the 10 selected projects within the Creative FLIP Learning Labs, we will be working with students from O? Ljubno ob Savinji over several months to explore the world of sustainable fashion. I was curious to see how much they already knew about fast fashion and sustainable fashion, so I prepared a fashion quiz with thought-provoking questions, creative activities, and an introduction to modular design, sustainable materials, and slow and ethical fashion. We also examined fashion trends throughout history—for example, did you know that men used to wear high heels as a sign of prestige? The students were particularly surprised to learn that, in many parts of the world, children are still sewing garments today and that producing just one cotton T-shirt requires an astonishing amount of water. (Can you guess how much? Write your answer in the comments! Hint: More than you would expect!) They were also shocked by the fact that 85% of textiles end up in landfills each year and that every second, a truckload of clothing is discarded worldwide. Every. Single. Second. One. Truckload. We clarified key terms such as sustainable fashion, slow fashion, second-hand, eco-friendly materials, recycling(breaking down old clothing into raw materials for new textiles or products), upcycling (transforming old garments into new, unique pieces), and modular clothing (clothing that can be adapted and modified in different ways). What’s Next? Over the coming weeks, students will be designing their own modular sweaters with detachable, universal sleeves (They call them 'hoodies'—apparently, 'sweaters' are something their grandmothers wear! ??). They will also explore the garment-making process, experiment with illustration, pattern design, and tailoring, and even learn about the importance of intellectual property in fashion. The project will conclude with an exhibition showcasing their creations, and I am already excited to invite you to see their work! Looking forward to this creative journey! ???? #CreativeFLIP #SustainableFashion #SlowFashion #ModularDesign #Education #Sustainability @CreativeHubsNet, @GoetheInstitutBrussels

Since his swearing-in , we’ve been following the updates on the Compass. https://lnkd.in/gxX6aEBc Today we get a closer look. ??? “We need to take care of the cultural sector and its working conditions. We need to see the opportunities and challenges of emerging technological development and AI. We also need to see culture as a catalyst and an enabler in different policy areas. A Cultural Deal for Europe requires funding. We have to have a united front. I will advocate for the increased funding. This is just the initial conversation.” - Glenn Micallef (European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture & Sport) #CultureCompass #CDEU2025 Europa Nostra, European Cultural Foundation, Bozar
