The Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange (CCRx) is a 501c3 nonprofit that provides donated surplus materials and supplies to teachers and non-profits in Chicago. We rely on volunteers and the generosity of businesses and individuals to donate materials, supplies, equipment they no longer need to assist teachers, students, non-profits, artists and community groups. We conduct pop-up events, hold webinars, professsional development programs and other events. We believe that "trash is a failure of imagination" and aspire to be Chicago's "prescription for creativity."

On #EarthDay, we are reminded that building a more resilient, equitable planet begins with each of us. ?? For Julia Talbot, senior proposal development manager and AIR Champion for Change, volunteering at Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange (CCRx) is not only a way to preserve the #environment for future generations—it’s a way to build communities that have the resources they need today. The nonprofit redistributes donated surplus materials, equipment, and supplies, keeping good things out of the landfill and getting them into the hands of teachers, students, and nonprofits that can use them. We asked Julia why this work inspires her, what gives her hope, and what advice she has for those wanting to get involved.
