Creating Coding Careers is training deeply skilled apprentice coders. Using a broad network of recruiters, we identify the right apprentice candidates. Then we introduce them to our intensive training program. Not all applicants are able to make the cut and join our program, but those that succeed join dozens of others whose tech careers have been launched by our instructors. Creating Coding Careers is unlike other bootcamp models, from the way we recruit to our post-graduation relationships.

Elijah J. McCoy was the mastermind who kept trains running smoothly, literally. While working for the Michigan Central Railroad, McCoy tackled the tedious and time-consuming task of manually oiling train engine parts. In 1872, he changed the game by inventing an automatic lubricator that used steam pressure to keep engines running without stopping. This genius device wasn’t just a hit for trains; it found its way into industries like drilling and mining too. With his success, McCoy left the railroad behind to focus on inventing. Among his creations were a portable ironing board and a lawn sprinkler, though machine lubrication remained his specialty. Over his lifetime, he earned more than 50 patents, cementing his legacy. The city of Detroit also declared his birthday, Elijah McCoy Day in 1975. #cccareers #inventors #pioneers #QOTD

It’s true ?? Even though boot camps cost between 10-20k, our non-profit program makes it possible for people from underrepresented groups to learn while earning! Plus, transitioning military who go through our Skill Bridge program continue to receive their benefits while learning. ??At Creating Coding Careers, we’re breaking down the number one barrier that keeps underrepresented people out of tech: Financial Hardship. ? We’re not just teaching skills; we’re reshaping the tech industry to reflect the diversity of our communities. ?? #diversity #representation #diversityandinclusion #womenintech #apprenticeship

France Córdova is an astrophysics superstar. Known for her groundbreaking work on X-ray and gamma ray emissions and her innovations in optical instrumentation, she’s earned global recognition for unraveling space’s mysteries. As director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) from 2014 to 2020, Córdova didn’t just lead; she elevated. Under her leadership, the NSF saw a billion-dollar budget boost, advanced STEM education for underrepresented groups, and tackled big science challenges. Before that, she served as Purdue University's eleventh president, and in 2021, she became president of the Science Philanthropy Alliance. Her impact is as vast as the cosmos she studies. #cccareers #QOTD #WomeninSTEM

As I conclude Week 6 of the Cyber Proud, Inc. IT Skills Program, I am proud to reflect on the substantial knowledge I have gained. From digital literacy and IT infrastructure fundamentals to networking and cloud computing, this journey has been both enriching and inspiring. Among the topics covered, cloud computing has been my favorite. Exploring Amazon Web Services (AWS) was particularly engaging, especially as I delved into creating instances and configuring Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies. IAM is a system that enables secure management of access to resources, ensuring robust security practices. While challenging, it was incredibly rewarding to deepen my understanding of such a pivotal technology. I am eager to continue this path and grow exponentially under the guidance of Creating Coding Careers. Special thanks to Guillermo Monge and Yahshemi Walters for their exceptional instruction and support! #CyberProud #IT #CloudComputing #LearningAndGrowing #TechJourney

Charles Drew was a game-changer in medicine whose groundbreaking work in blood transfusions saved countless lives. During World War II, he revolutionized blood storage and organized large-scale blood banks, giving medics a crucial tool to save thousands of U.S. military service members. As director of the first American Red Cross Blood Bank in 1941, he also invented bloodmobiles which were mobile donation stations that kept blood refrigerated and ready for use, dramatically increasing donations. But Drew wasn’t just a brilliant scientist; he was a fighter for justice. He fiercely opposed the racial segregation of blood donations, which had no scientific basis, and resigned in protest from the American Red Cross when the policy persisted. His legacy is one of innovation, courage, and unwavering integrity. #cccareers #QOTD #Innovation #Inclusion

??Lack of representation has real-world consequences ?? If you have dark skin, you’re more likely to be misidentified by facial recognition software or even at risk near self-driving cars. ?? At Creating Coding Careers, we’re changing this by creating pathways for historically excluded groups in tech. We’re building a workforce that reflects the world we live in. ? Diverse teams design safer, smarter, and more inclusive solutions for all of us. ?? Let’s make tech work for everyone! #CreatingCodingCareers #InclusiveTech #DiversityMatters #TechForGood
