Student Success Stories Shared at Annual CREATE Celebration! Commercial Real Estate Alliance for Tomorrow's Employees (CREATE)?celebrated its 2024 student success stories last week at its annual celebration, "CREATE Works!". Joining the party were students from the current Fellows cohort at San Francisco State University, Fellows alumni, instructors and other program volunteers, and donors who support this results-driven, workforce development program.?Four Fellows alums from the 2023-2024 cohort shared their personal stories of how the program impacted their career path and provided them employment opportunities upon graduation. CREATE provides funding and support for college-level instruction, enhanced by mentoring, job shadowing, building tours, networking as well as a free career portal that connects students with employers offering internships and entry-level jobs. The Commercial Real Estate Alliance for Tomorrow’s Employees (CREATE) educates a diverse workforce and connects career-ready candidates to employers in the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) industry. Since 2011, CREATE has educated hundreds of students from San Francisco State University and Merritt College, both of which are recognized as having among the most diverse student populations in the nation. Approximately 30% of these students have been hired directly into the industry upon graduation. CREATE’s signature program is the 16-module, 32-hour Fellows curriculum facilitated by industry subject matter experts. Student Fellows learn the fundamentals of the industry and about the career opportunities in commercial real estate. The experience is enhanced by mentoring, job shadowing, building tours, internships and networking as well as the free career portal that connects students with employers offering internships and entry-level jobs. Commercial Real Estate Alliance for Tomorrow's Employees (CREATE) Careers Committee wrapped up its annual Mentor Match yesterday.?Mentors, mentees, members of the CREATE Careers Committee and the CREATE Board celebrated a successful 8-week mentoring season which exposed participating students to an increased awareness of the CRE industry while building their CRE network. ? Congratulations to the 2024 Mentor of the Year, Anne Hill with Lincoln Property Company and 2024 Mentee of the Year, Hope D., a CREATE Fellow finishing her 3rd year at San Francisco State University.? CREATE Fellows 2.0 is a series of eight (8) workshops designed to give participants a deeper understanding of commercial real estate, how value is created, and key fundamentals of commercial real estate as an asset class. Students who complete this course are anticipated to be in a better position to advance more quickly within the industry as a result of their deeper knowledge of real estate as an investment. CREATE Donor and supporter JLL hosted a building tour for CREATE Fellows mentees and their JLL mentors who participated in CREATE’s annual Mentor Match.?The annual mentor program connects CREATE Fellows with both senior level and emerging professionals in the local commercial real estate community to offer knowledge, guidance and to expand their network.
