    Your email marketing won’t work anymore unless you follow these 3 new rules from Google and Yahoo. Google and Yahoo are making changes to email marketing… especially for marketers who are sending out blasts to 5000 or more people per day. The first is your emails need to be under a spam threshold limit. That limit is ideally .1% or lower. It can’t go above .3% or higher or else your emails won’t be getting placed in people’s inbox. The second is they want you to authenticate your email. They want to make sure it is you sending out the emails and not someone pretending to be you. SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are the ways you let email clients know that it is actually you sending the emails. Your domain provider, such as Godaddy, can help with this. Third, you have to make it easy for people to opt-out. Having a one-click unsubscribe button is obvious but you also have to remove people from your list within 2 days if they email you.

    Deleting content will get you more traffic. We looked at 10,000 websites. Check out these stats: 14.04% of the web pages on a website target the same keywords as other pages on the same website. 3.28% of the web pages on a website contain little to no content (less than 100 words) and we excluded pages like the about, contact, and home page. 4.71% of the web pages have broken links or old outdated content. 60.29% of the web pages had no backlinks. 35.22% of the web pages had 1 or no internal links. Now, the issue with all of this is a few things: 1. When you have multiple pages going after the same keyword, Google doesn’t know which one to rank. 2. When you have low-quality content on your site, it doesn’t just affect that page, it affects your whole site including the pages that have great content. 3. Google has a crawl budget. They don’t just endlessly crawl a website as it takes up resources and costs money. So, they pick and choose which sites and pages to crawl. You want to maximize your budget by getting rid of the junk, so they crawl most of your site. On average, at NP Digital, when we fix the above issues we see an increase in SEO traffic by 13% on average. Some sites see more, and some see less... but overall we see more traffic by deleting duplicative, junk, and outdated content. Think of it as spring cleaning for your website.
