There were some noticeable changes for Highway 161 in 2023 as it transitioned from a state highway to a residential road managed by Pulaski County. Along with its new designation as Jacksonville Highway, the Crafton Tull team worked on the designs for some upgrades to benefit the local community. The design changes included resurfacing and restriping to narrow lanes for a multi-use lane for pedestrians as well as a reconfiguration to the Trammel Road intersection. ?? Another notable change was the addition of a raised crosswalk at Harris Elementary for added pedestrian safety. What makes the raised crosswalk special is that it's a ramped crossing with a flat top that spans the entire width of the road, sitting at the same height as the sidewalk. This helps increase pedestrian visibility to drivers. ?? Our team is proud to be part of projects that prioritize safety for both pedestrians and drivers. The Magnolia Street overpass across I-49 in Rogers helped reduce traffic congestion and unlocked development potential along this vital corridor. New developments since its opening in 2019 include Sterling Bank, Arkansas Federal Credit Union, and Armor Bank on the west side. The 150,000 sqft Uber Freight Regional Office sits on the east side of the overpass and opened in 2021. The Magnolia Street project was included as part of the $299.5 million bond issue voters approved in August 2018 to pay for streets, parks, police, and fire department improvements.

Construction is coming along nicely at Creekmore Park pool in Fort Smith. This facility was built in the 1940s and needed upgrades. The existing site is being restructured to meet ADA requirements, and the poolhouse is being replaced to offer a modernized community amenity. The facility is estimated to reopen in time for the summer season.???? City of Fort Smith, Arkansas
