Today is all about Women in Apprenticeship. The Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant helps to expand pathways for women to enter and lead in all industries. Organizations receiving funds will provide one or more of the following types of technical assistance: ?? Developing pre-apprenticeship or nontraditional skills training programs to prepare women for those careers; ?? Providing ongoing orientations for employers, unions, and workers on creating a successful environment for women to succeed in those careers; and ?? Setting up support groups, facilitating networks, or providing support services for women to improve their retention. In 2024, the WANTO grant program awarded $6 million to 9 community-based organizations to increase women’s participation in apprenticeship programs and nontraditional occupations #nationalapprenticeshipweek #NAW2024 #apprenticeshipprogram #apprentice #apprenticeship

Why are Pre-Apprenticeship programs so beneficial? One reason why is their agreements with the RAP (Registered Apprenticeship Program) sponsor that allows program participants to enter directly into a RAP. National Apprenticeship Week is November 17 - 23, 2024! ?? ?? The dedicated efforts to expand the National Apprenticeship System have led the system to grow from 360,000 active apprentices in 2015 to 660,000 today. Additional accomplishments from that time period: ?? Nearly 23,000 new Registered Apprenticeship programs created by industry partners, a 31% increase. ?? Over 2.3 million new apprentices, an 80% increase, including underrepresented populations such as women, people of color, youth (16 –24), individuals with disabilities and veterans.
