International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution
关于我们
Established in 1977, the International Institute of Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR) is an independent nonprofit organization that helps prevent and resolve legal conflict more effectively and efficiently. It manages conflict to enable purpose. The CPR Institute drives a global prevention and dispute resolution culture through the thought leadership of its diverse membership of top companies, law firms, lawyers, academics, and leading mediators and arbitrators around the world. The Institute convenes best practice and industry-oriented committees and hosts global and regional meetings to share practices and develop innovative tools and resources. The Institute trains on dispute prevention and resolution, publishes a monthly journal on related topics, and advocates for supporting and expanding the capacity for dispute prevention and resolution globally. CPR Dispute Resolution harnesses the thought leadership and output of the Institute while providing independent ADR services – mediation, arbitration, early neutral evaluation, dispute resolution boards and others – through innovative and practical rules and procedures and through CPR’s Panel of Distinguished Neutrals. It was a privilege to speak on the topic of “Women in Arbitration: West Coast Stories” on the last day of the Litigation Section of the California Lawyers Association ADR Committee and California Arbitration (CalArb)’s 2025 California International Arbitration Week in #LosAngeles today with Charles E. Harris, II, FCIArb of Mayer Brown, international arbitrator Lexi Menish, Charline Yim of GIBSON, DUNN AND CRUCHTER and Ariel Solose of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. All major arbitral organizations including CPR Dispute Resolution, International Centre for Dispute Resolution? (ICDR), JAMS, ICC Arbitration, Singapore International Arbitration Centre, etc. have identified and trained a rich community of well qualified, experienced international women arbitrators - but it is now up to those who are selecting arbitrators to appoint them. When we polled the audience on who had been before or served with an arbitral tribunal of three women, only one hand rose up. The audience was invited to reflect on the reasons why, if they had a negative reaction to the idea of three women serving on a tribunal - but have no such reaction to an all male arbitration panel.

CPR Institute and CPR Dispute Resolution’s panel at the Litigation Section of the California Lawyers Association and California Arbitration (CalArb)’s 2025 California International Arbitration Week generated great discussions on the factors corporations consider when deciding where to seat an arbitration. The panel offered both the challenges and benefits of selecting California, including a qualified community of arbitrators, local law firms well versed with both subject matter expertise and with arbitrating in both civil and common law jurisdictions, its proximity to the Pacific Rim, and a judicial system that is very favorable to arbitration. Jordan Teti, a partner with the Los Angeles office of Hogan Lovells, successfully moderated a very engaging panel featuring Mary Beth Cantrell, Senior Associate General Associate of Amgen, Ken Korea, a former in house counsel of an international technology company and now a neutral of CPR Dispute Resolution and the American Arbitration Association/International Centre for Dispute Resolution? (ICDR) and Jo Levy of Norton law firm, who spent 15 years in Asia as an in house counsel for a U.S. technology company.
