Volunteers from around the globe have been tirelessly working to combat this problem. Over the 35-year history of the International Coastal Cleanup, nearly 14 million straws and stirrers have been collected from beaches and waterways worldwide! This tremendous effort shows just how pervasive the issue is and underscores the importance of our individual choices. You can make a difference starting today! By simply choosing not to use a plastic straw – just for today – you can contribute to the reduction of ocean debris.
