We recently captured highlights from a conversation with Charles Welch, our Strategic Director based in our Chicago office, discussing our national strategy. Here's some of the Q&A: Q: What do you mean when you say that Cox HCS provides nationwide services? A:?It means we go where our clients need us. In this business, you have to be ready to work across the country, and we’ve set ourselves up to do exactly that. We operate under several reciprocal license agreements, and if we aren't licensed somewhere, we inform our clients and share what we know about the state or local process. Q: Have you performed work for the same client in multiple states? A:?Yes, many times throughout our company’s history. A great example is the work we did for the Hyatt Project Services team over the years. When that team existed, they might need us in Texas one month and Maryland the next. Companies often have strategic assets across various states, so it’s common for us to work with the same client across state lines. Q: You have offices in Texas and Illinois—do you specialize in those areas? A:?While we have core personnel and strong subcontractor networks in both locations, as well as a focus on Florida, our superintendents and subcontractors travel wherever they’re needed. We use property technology to monitor these markets, but our crews remain focused 100% on hotel renovations nationwide. Thanks to Charles for sharing his insights! We welcome opportunities wherever our clients need us. Feel free to reach out with any questions about our services!

Why Consistency with Subcontractors is a Game Changer for Hotel Renovations In a recent?client?meeting, our team was?asked about the economics of consistently bringing the same subcontractors to each jobsite, no matter where we are in the country. Our answer: It works, and here’s why: ??Hospitality Specialists Hotel renovation is a unique niche, and our trusted subcontractors specialize exclusively in it. They know the priorities: strange work hours, living onsite, walkthroughs?with brand or owner reps,?and most of all, minimizing guest disruption. Anyone in hospitality understands that GSS scores are critical to a hotel's financial success, so minimizing negative feedback is a must. ??Speed At first glance, travel expenses might seem high. But the true value lies in?room turnover?– getting heads back in beds quickly. When the same subcontractors follow the same processes every time, they’re able to streamline operations and gain efficiency. The learning curve is a huge advantage here. ??Risk Mitigation While hotel renovations don't often involve heavy machinery or hazardous materials, risk still exists. Using trusted subcontractors who follow consistent safety and quality procedures minimizes these risks and helps us avoid costly stoppages. In our world, the show must always go on. ??Trust and Flexibility The biggest advantage of long-term relationships with subcontractors is the trust we’ve built over years. We’re all in this together, balancing speed with the flexibility owners and management need as the project evolves. Because we move from project to project together, we hold each other accountable and ensure consistent, high-quality work every time. It takes years to build these trusted relationships, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the hardworking subcontractors who help us deliver exceptional results. Thank you to our trusted subcontractors for the continued partnership and trust you've placed in us, too!

Scaling for Large Hotel Renovations Lately, owners and investors have been asking:?How does Cox HCS scale up for large hotel renovations? The answer lies in our?sliding scale?approach. Our?multi-tiered superintendent structure?expands oversight and specialized leadership as project complexity increases. Not every renovation demands the same resources—some need a leaner team, while large-scale projects require a layered, coordinated effort. Every experienced contractor has their own proven method, but the?key is experience. Providing successful, large-scale renovations?takes decades of refining processes, building relationships, and gaining real-world knowledge. That’s what sets us apart. With nearly 30 years in the industry, our structured superintendent teams ensure efficiency, high-end execution, and minimal guest disruption. Some recent examples: Grand Hyatt San Antonio?– $19M, 1,000 guestrooms, delivered?two weeks ahead of schedule. Hyatt Lost Pines Resort & Spa?– $27M, full renovation, completed?on time and under budget,?even with a three-month Covid delay. At the heart of this approach? The long-standing relationships we’ve built with our superintendents, subcontractors, and skilled tradespeople—many with us for decades. Their expertise makes scaling seamless. To our incredible team—thank you for your dedication and commitment to excellence. #CoxHCS #HotelRenovation #ScalingUp #ProjectManagement #Construction #EliteContractors #GeneralContracting
