On this day, March 20, 1945, the USS Midway (CVB-41) launched at Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock Company in Newport News, Virginia.? Barbara Cox, daughter of Cox Communications founder James M. Cox, christened the Navy’s newest aircraft carrier. As seen here, two Naval postal covers commemorate this historic day, postmarked USS Midway. Naval postal covers are envelopes and postcards that commemorate a ship or event. They often bear cachets, which are decorative images or artwork, even sometimes hand-painted.?? Issac, a Central Georgia teen artist at our King Danforth Unit, has been selected as the Georgia market winner in the Cox Communications Communications Mobile + Boys & Girls Clubs of America Phone Case Design Contest! As a finalist, he received an exclusive tech package valued at more than $500 today at the reveal of his amazing artwork and is now one step closer to willing: ? A $25,000 post-secondary education scholarship, ? A technology refresh grant for our Club through the 2025 Cox Innovation Lab grant, and ?
