The poll shows a decrease in the number of parents who believe the schools are failing, though perspectives on progress still differ across communities. As part of Financial Aid Fridays, NOLA CCAN will be hosting a virtual informal discussion this Friday, October 25, at 9:30 AM. Join us to explore FAFSA updates, what to expect for the 2025 form opening very soon, and insights from the U.S. Department of Education. While FAFSA completion isn’t a graduation requirement for Louisiana seniors, NOLA CCAN is dedicated to providing valuable resources and encouraging student applications.

We are excited to announce that the Cowen Institute will host a special presentation on public education in New Orleans during Tulane University’s homecoming weekend. New Orleans has a uniquely decentralized education system, with nearly all public schools operating as charters since Hurricane Katrina. In this presentation, we’ll explore parents' and guardians' perceptions of this system nearly two decades later. We’ll also discuss findings from our latest poll, conducted in fall 2024, on how New Orleanians feel about school quality and the future of education in our city.
